Default Obama backs Bush: No rights for Bagram prisoners

Ouch! I think this will really be a tough one for you Bush haters to spin. I am liking our president more and more each day.

The Obama administration, siding with the Bush White House, contended Friday that detainees in Afghanistan have no constitutional rights.

In a two-sentence court filing, the Justice Department said it agreed that detainees at Bagram Airfield cannot use U.S. courts to challenge their detention. The filing shocked human rights attorneys.

I think he's going to find out about a lot of things............and will be in alignment with the previous administration.

I am not quite sure what you mean. Do you think that all those who are critical of Bush's policies are automatically in favor of Obama?

He's surprised me a few times too. I have a feeling the big Dog and Pony show they put us through to make us feel like we're part of the process get's them all a few laugh but whoever the put in the big house, I mean white house, we'll get pretty similar runs of gthe gameplay over time.

Obama was bringing peace to the world, he was suppose to be the exact opposite of Bush, things look a whole lot different when he's sitting behind that desk.

I am waiting for the hypocrisy of the Bush haters to start their excuses, of why it is OK for Obama to keep prisoners from our judicial system, but it's not OK for Bush. Personnally, Obama's doing the right thing

I don't think you read what he/she said. Being anti-Bush does not necessarily mean being pro-Obama.

It doesn't matter if Putin or Obama is a criminal, they should both face the same laws and both be punishable.

Many of us knew Obama's being an agent of change was largely (not completely) a misnoma. His appointments have been largely centre-right former aides to Clinton/Bush or corporate lobbyists. The mass media, of course, did not cover these sorts of appointments (much) until after his election. They know what side their bread is buttered on.

Obama: The biggest disappointment to the majority of the public in US history?

I read it exactly as it was written. My point of the post was not fto criticize those that oppose any kind of war, I classify them as freaks that don't live in the real world. What I am amused at are the left loon nut cases that have been hammering Bush on this issue since around 2002. Now we have a new president that is seeing things as they really are, and those of us not viewing from inside that special prism can only guess what the real story is.

Hey, has anyone notice how few of the hardcore Obama supporters have responded to this thread? Maybe they're all on vacation. I'm kind of interested in what they have to say about our new tough on war president.

This subject could have been posted in
Current Events

or perhaps even
Current Events

But then those who post duplicate threads would not feel quite so special, now would they ?

If any mods will take the initiative, all should be rolled in to the first; since it was first chronologically.

BroncoBilly :

If it is " hardcore Obama supporters " responces which you seek, maybe those are the threads where you will find them.

I think its one thing to criticize the current situation in Iraq from the outside as a citizen living thousands of miles away from the realities and actually having to be involved in the decision making process. Obama shared the Ideology of many americans against the war in Iraq because he has never really been a critical person in the decision making process and has had to be held accountable for those decisions. Now that he is in a this position, I think reality has set it and his Ideologies are slowly eroding. He is being advised of the realities in Iraq/Afghanistan which have replaced the propaganda among the press and general public. I think the only change you will see is the change in Obamas Ideology that got him elected.
