Supreme Court rejects appeal by Gitmo prisoners

WASHINGTON (CNN) -- In a victory for President Bush, the Supreme Court on Monday rejected an appeal by suspected terrorists challenging their imprisonment at the U.S. military prison at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba.

At issue are the rights of the prisoners to contest their imprisonment and the rules set up to try them as war criminals. About 400 detainees are being held at the facility, including admitted September 11 mastermind Khalid Sheikh Mohammed and 13 other suspected top al Qaeda members.

The justices ruled 6-3 to deny appeals from two groups of prisoners. Preliminary hearings before military commissions at Guantanamo have already begun for a few detainees.

At the White House, spokeswoman Dana Perino told The Associated Press that, "on first glance, we're very pleased with the decision."

I won't be holding my breath. Who knows who the FBI will pick up when a horrendous crime is committed next. you've been warned.

Why would you be concerned? It won't affect you. Terrorists organizations in America like CAIR, are pushing the envelope for the extremists, like suing the citizens that are suppose to be vigilant and point out odd behavior, and if the authorities are going to pressure these terrorists to out themselves, well... good. If you were concerned about your freedoms being trampled, you would be worried about the cameras that watch citizens in Great Britain (I believe it is 1 for every 14 Brits), and not what the terrorists in Gitmo are being deprived of their day in court.

Most of the guys at Gitmo are being held for being logistical and support personnel for AQ, not actually conducting any attacks. Death by torture is a bit much for a crime like that. From what evidence and testimony the government has released, most of them aren't even hard core terrorist, they were being paid to help out AQ.
