Default actually it was the 60s

The nun in question committed the offenses in the 1960s. She would have been in her 30s (a woman's sexual peak) and thus seriously tempted.

As for the measure of the times, doesn't it say something better about today that we are willing to charge her for her crimes rather than sweep it under the rug as they would have in the period Blade is nostalgically remembering by comparison.

"We" have never swept it under the rug - the catholic church has.

Default come on, blade

are you seriously suggesting the catholic church could have hushed up all those scandals without prominent catholics in the police and local government aiding and abetting their actions? if so, i've got a bridge in brooklyn you might be interested int.

Default Actually ...

It just occured to me -- I've always assumed that the Catholic church used Catholics in positions of authority to cover up their scandals, but wouldn't it actually make more sense to use people of other faiths?

She was charged last December and accused of having repeated sexual contact during the 1960s with some students who attended St. Patrick's School in Milwaukee.

It was one boy yesterday, now it's is the whole choir coming forward. Men usually report these sexual abuses in their fortys to counselors, and most likely to commit suicide at that age in connection with abuse.
