Default US charges six suspects over 9/11

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/americas/7239099.stm

Quote:
The Pentagon has announced charges against six Guantanamo Bay prisoners over their alleged involvement in the 11 September 2001 attacks in the US
Well the terrorists will have their day in court - and maybe valuable intelligence and sources may be revealed during the trials.

A mixed blessing but I'm sure the guilty verdict will passed.

Default What !?!?!?

"criminal charges"

Well doesn't that go against everything the right wing has been saying. These people should not be treated as criminals.

Why do I guess that the right wingers will claim this is a victory because the Bush administration is doing exactly what the left wing has been saying for years....

The right has said they're against charges ever being brought? Who from the right said this? A quote would be helpful.

Default More specifically

I have read over and over people from the right lambasting Clinton for treating the first World trade center attack as a criminal matter. Now we have the 9/11 terrorists being treated as criminals.

Quote:
Lopez: When the World Trade Center was first bombed in '93, why was it treated at first as a criminal investigation?
http://www.nationalreview.com/interr...ory091103b.asp

Quote:
The terror attack would be treated as a criminal matter, not a threat to national security.
http://opinionjournal.com/extra/?id=110004081

Now I would argue that treating the second world trade center attacks with an agressive "wanted dead or alive" approach, but as a criminal matter would have served our purposes much better than deciding that we needed to go to war with Iraq...

We needed to hunt down and get, dead or alive, all terrorists. But focus on terrorists and those that protect them. That means that if Afghanistan protected terrorists, then they would even be able to go so far as to invade the country to get to the terrorists. But it would not have justified attacking Iraq, because they were not protecting any terrorists.

And now, we are finally, after years of idiotic practices of torture and secret rendition and years and years of imprisonment without trial and so forth, treating these guys like criminals. And that is how we should have brought them to justice all along.

30 years of appeals. Hell they could even get off on the waterboard cry.

Thanks Lefties.
Now we get to watch you defend them.
It means the left can put on the airs of fighting the war on terror while they run away from it everywhere.

They need to find a specific crime each of these turd did that = death and prosecute that first..in order to carry out sentence asap.
Hang them.

The idea they where not going to be charge or anything is ridiculous..the difference now though is these people have become stars in the leftist circles and they could get off light.

Default You are right Duh

The left deserve the hitlers and stalins, it makes them feel good trying to save murderers.

The photo below is the Obama and Hillary plan to reduce our military, then we will never have to worry about prisoners of war, because there won't be any.

And Bronco, you and your "this is the military of democrats" is more delusional drivel. Really, show me where any democrat has said that the military should be cut to the extent that it is no longer the most powerful military in the world.....

I guess it must be hard to hold positions that aren't backed up by reality.
Well for starters, he didn't say it, he did it, Bill Clinton reduced the military by 40%;

http://www.encyclopedia.com/doc/1G1-17428846.html

Interview with Larry King. (Bill Clinton speech)(Transcript)
From: Weekly Compilation of Presidential Documents | Date: 7/26/1993

"Now, let me make just one important point about that. It's very tough when you close these bases. I know it. But we have taken the military down from about 2.5 million people, going down toward 1.6, then 1.5, then 1.4. You can't reduce the military by 40 percent and only reduce the base structure by nine. Most of the bases that are recommended for closure are in Europe, some in the United States. But we have to reduce the base structure because otherwise we won't have enough money to train the personnel and to keep developing the smart weapons and the important technology that keep our people the best fighting force in the world and keep them safe".

Well HD, I guess all that smart technology hasn't been as much help as the 2.5 million military strength we once had would have been. Our military is stretch thin because of Clinton. Iraq could have had all the troops it needed to secure it after we ousted saddam, but thanks to Clinton, we have struggled to hold on to it and have lost almost 4000 of our troops because of reduced troop strength.

The picture below is the new reduced technology that the democrats will offer our military;

Default Criminal charges?

Wait a minute. Everybody's getting so caught up in the fight that you guys are neglecting to notice that everybody's getting what they want.

Us left-wingers will get a criminal trial and justice, and the right-wingers will get to execute people they think are evil. Everybody's happy. You should all be patting each other on the back, not trying to start little internet brawls.

So you think these guys that murdered 3000+ Americans deserve to live? And the trials took this long to gather information, and to be clear on what would be allowed as evidence. They have no right to a speedy trial.
