I'm not - yet. Having a baby has kind of put that on hold. I was planning to change my degree from economics and politics to law - and to focus on international criminal law. But hey, looks like now I'm gonna be a mother. It's all good.

My eldest brother is a criminal lawyer. He works for our DPP (same as being a DA in the US) and his main area of practice is sex crimes - predominantly sex crimes against children (paeophilia, incest etc). Not very uplifting work, but he's been doing that and pretty much nothing else for over 20 years. There are a lot of sick (*)(*)(*)(*) in prison because of my brother. I like that.

It's good to see that he is putting these skumbags away instead of defending them... I stay away as far as I can from criminal law...

Yeah I agree. I think at one time (when he was about 14) he briefly entertained the idea of being a defence lawyer, but after about 15 minutes' consideration he came to his senses.

One of our patients is a defence lawyer. Because my brother is fairly well known in our city, this patient recognised my name and asked if we were related. He then referred to the DPP as `the enemy'.

Er, right. Because being a criminal defence lawyer is sooooo admirable.
