I haven't read much on this thread since there are some 30+ pages. But a person is a person regardless of skin color. The main reason is simple. Poverty in urban areas where the majority of blacks live. Urban areas with higher populations are going to have higher probability of crime due to less economic, educational etc. opportunities. It's not like it's a genetic trait , it is a societal problem in our country. Blacks, simply do not have the advantages and opportunities that white people do in this country due to numerous factors.


Whether we want to admit it to ourselves or not, we are still a very segregated society. Think about it. If your white and live in a rural or suburban area, how many black people will be at your funeral?

I think the poverty angle of the discussion has already been worked over.

My opinion is that the best that can be said is that the two are correlative, not causative, and it is likely that crime leads to poverty, as opposed to the conventional thinking that poverty causes crime.
