My Dad was a Cop for 20 years...
The amount of crap that Police officers have to put up with and yet are expected to keep their cool is just outrageous. 99.9999% of Cops out there do a really good job and in an ethical way. The few out there who suck, unfortunately ruin it for the rest of them. I have a great deal of respect for Police Officers and even when they have given me a speeding ticket or whatever ive still always given them that respect.

Yeah, I have to agree on this one. The majority are good, it's just the actions of a few who make the rest appear bad.

Thanks Rino, and AKC thank your pops for me.
You boys do have a very difficult job to do. You get a split second to make your decision, the news media and politicians then get months to pick that decision apart. You guys have my respect.

That is arguable. If you are talking about mechanics and maintainers in the military yes. If you are talking about mechanics and maintainers that work for the cities then no.

Yeah as much as I respect police officers I have to agree here. My wife is a RN (Registered Nurse)...and well she actually has it pretty easy. But the CNA's (Certified Nurses Assistants) well they have a MISERABLE job. Most of them work in nursing homes, having to take care of people who are essentially dying and helpless. They have to dress and undress these people, wipe them after they poop in a diaper they are wearing, deal with them when they are senile and dont know what they are saying and doing, give them baths, they have to do a TON of lifting...taking these patients from their bed to the shower and other areas, sometimes they have to give them sponge baths....It is just downright miserable. My wife was a CNA during the time she was working on getting her RN. Now as an RN she STARTED out at well over 20 dollars an hour (here in Utah that is excellent money). However when she was a CNA, she was doing all that miserable work for just a little over 8.00 dollars an hour. I dont think I could have done it lol.

Quote:
is just as valuable to a society as the leadership. A job shouldn't define a person, how they do their job should. For example, a problem I had with many Military pilots (my former peers) is a prevailing attitude that Pardon my French here...they think their "$hit don't stink"...... forgetting it's the folks who keep the birds in the air that are the unsung professionals. Some of these airframes are 35 or 40 years old and the reason they all aren't falling out of the skies is because they've been maintained. Same applies to our infrastructure in our cities and towns. Maintenance crews keep the 2nd Law of Thermodynamics at bay. |
