Default Couple Arrested For Asking For Directions

BALTIMORE -- Baltimore City police arrested a Virginia couple over the weekend after they asked an officer for directions.

WBAL-TV 11 News I-Team reporter David Collins said Joshua Kelly and Llara Brook, of Chantilly, Va., got lost leaving an Orioles game on Saturday. Collins reported a city officer arrested them for trespassing on a public street while they were asking for directions .

"In jail for eight hours -- sleeping on a concrete floor next to a toilet," Kelly said.

That's pretty (*)(*)(*)(*) ridiculous. Haha, I love the last sentence in the article: "The Baltimore Police are looking into the incident." Yeah, right, I just bet they are.

How can you trespass on a public street?

I always think there are two sides to every story and I'd like to hear the police version too, but I've never heard of trespassing on a public street?? You've got to think something was wrong with that one officer. I think most cops do a good job, but some are jerks. Maybe she was having a really bad night and just took it out on the out of towners. Or maybe the out of towners are leaving out part of the story.

And geez, you can't dance at the Jefferson Memorial? Yeah, it was kind of odd, but security could have handled it a little better. Maybe asked the people what they were doing. Explained that dancing could be seen as acting disorderly. It was late at night, and dancing to silent I-Pods mgiht seem like they were going to do something even stranger. We're probably talking $8 a hour security here. For all we know maybe somebody recently cut off Jefferson's head and ran off with it. (Then they replaced it as they wouldn't want the public to know about it) And since then, security has been tense.

Naw, I think we just got some bad cop behavior going on. At least nobody got shot.

Funny this story should come out of Baltimore. I have traveled extensively throughout the U.S. and the only police force I have a gripe about is the Baltimore police. Coincidence?

But this article goes to show that even police officers aren't immune from poor judgment.

I'd sue. There is no excuse for the poor treatment these people received. The police should have known better.

That is the first thing I wondered.

Even if they were, wouldn't they just give them some kind of warning or at the most, a citation/ticket? Actually arresting them? Seems a bit outlandish don't you think?
