hello my name is lindsay and i work at a humane society in ohio. we have had some recent cases of animal cruelty. all cases have made me have no respect for the human race . each day (literaly) i see cases that make me sick. i am sure there are others out there that will come in. we have had some animals that have been shot with a bb gun. in sandusky ohio we read in the paper about this terrier was starved and lefted to die and had to be put down due to kidney and other organ failures. laws need to be stronger why do we let these people go free so they can do it again? (this cat was lefted outside and his eyes we frozen shut!)

Well, maybe animal cruelty charges ought to be tried in special courts run by the Humane Society.

Animal cruelty has always really bothered me. I've always had pets and I've always felt dogs to be a part of the family. People who abuse animals typically don't feel that way.

Animal cruelty is horrendous IMO but society just doesn't hold animal life in the same regard as humans. Stiffer sentences would also mean it would be harder to prove a case and harder to get a conviction.

I dispise people who hurt their animals

"A righteous man cares for the needs of his animal, but the kindest acts of the wicked are cruel" (Proverbs 12:10).

Proverbs 27:23: "Be sure you know the condition of your flocks, give careful attention to your herds."

Why do stiffer sentences make it harder to prove?

It's easier to get convictions when there is less at stake. IOW, if stiffer penalties are jail time proposed, a jury is going to require more evidence to convict.

So, in other words, it won't work to have special animal abuse courts run by the Humane Society with convicted animal abusers receiving mandatory sentences of euthanasia on the spot?
