The US edition still has the Talibanistan story; it's just not the cover story. It makes sense to me. Teaching the Bible in school is only relevant in the US, and it is a very big issue here. It doesn't surprise me it would make the cover.
I also think it should be taught in English classes, as an important piece of anonymously written western literature. One cannot truly have an complete understanding of western literature without at least a general knowledge of the Bible.
