I liked Tim because he kept it real on both sides of the fence.

If you were a liberal or a conservative, he would'nt just let you walk.

No doubt about it!!! Keith Olbermann. The only guy I know of who O'liey is afraid of. In the 4 years I've been watching him I've yet to hear him even utter K.O.'s name.

BTW, is it possible to edit an existing entry? If so, what you think about editing these three items with KO and any other newsguy with votes already

Plus I have to give her props when she publicly challenged President Clinton in 1994 to take action in response to Serbian actions in Bosnia... that was kinda funny when Ms.Amanpour got snippy during a interview and the President put her in her place with "Young lady, do you realize who you are talking to?!"

The most respected by me is any one that reports the truth even if it is boring rather than reporting exciting lies.

Ooh. I agree on Fareed Zakaria too (although I know him from Newsweek rather than TV), but I think of him as more of a pundit
If Tim Russert were still alive, he'd go on the list.
But, alas, Meet the Press will never be the same.

But all in all... newscaster wise in the boring ol' trustworthy anchorman kinda way... nobody tops Lehrer (I also like that since he's Bostonian or something he can't pronounce his own name right! It only has one syllable when he says it!)

and how do you make that determination of truthiness? i am sure there are some poor creatures, who watch faux news with the misguided notion that the truth is sometimes uttered on that station

do how do you divine which broadcasts are being honest?

he was typically clueless and enjoyed being in that condition
that he is now dead does not change that reality

not! Easy enough to see where Tim's talents were.. just watch the halfboiled MTP now. Russert did his homework very well, and was able to think on his feet quicky and able to follow on through with a pertinent question if the guest leaves an openning.

His talent will be sorely missed especially with this election just a few months away. His passing truly was a lose for the country.

The only tangible difference between the likes of say Stephen Colbert or John Stewart, and say Bill O’Reilly is that Colbert/Stewart don’t claim to be “real” news, nor do they constantly display the banner of “fair and balanced”.
In other words, one side is purely for entertainment purposes and bills itself as such, while the other is purely for entertainment purposes but attempts to pass himself off as a real journalist, and oddly enough many people believe him.
