Also, the pastor featured in the movie who was wagging his finger in the camera and shouting "REPENT!!!" to all the "sinners" was none other than Ted Haggard, who has since been busted on Meth charges and for soliciting a male prostitute. Gotta love these religious hypocrites...

That is indoctrination, plain and simple. What a horrible EVIL thing to do to a kid, fillin' him full of lies like that. You know, these kids, end up being very SICK human beings. I mean, not like "evil-sick" (although that may be the case too), but like "sick-sick", actually ill, like suicidally depressed, and clinically sociopathic, that kind of thing. Not to mention, that anyone who walks around this world believing that their "beliefs" are holy, is a very dangerous person. That, in my eyes, would be extreme arrogance, and I mean, how are you gonna deal with someone like that? They're like rabid dogs, sometimes all you can do is put 'em down. But I mean, "I", as a new father, will not allow influences like that upon my children. I'm gonna teach my son that there's no one he shouldn't question - not me, not the President, not even Jesus Christ himself - ESPECIALLY me, right? - 'cause I mean, kids are real smart, they're very hard to fool, and I mean, if I as a parent lose the trust of my child, then I'll consider that I've failed in my parental duties. So I mean, it's very important that my child be allowed to retain an open mind, and not be encumbered by "orthodoxy" or any other kinda idiocy that tries to stifle. it. That's a rock-solid boundary and it will not be violated for any reason. I mean, if I caught a teacher tryin' to do something like that to my kid, I'd first yank my son out of his class, and then do my personal best to see to it that his teaching credentials were revoked, so he could never again corrupt another little kiddie ever Ever EVER. Know what I mean? And I mean, you know - doctors, same thing. Stripped of license. Priests? Defrocked. You know, people like that, they're tyrants, yes? I mean, that's kinda what it boils down to, they're kinda like "psychological tyrants", in an odd kind of way. And the wierd part is, "most" of 'em, have some kinda "individualist" streak, so if you actually ask 'em about it, they're gonna get all paranoid like you're tryin' to "change 'em" or something. It's definitely a very interesting psychology. Last edited by nonsqtr; 01-03-2008 at 08:27 AM. |

"One had to cram all this stuff into one's mind, whether one liked it or not. This coercion had such a deterring effect that, after I had passed the final examination, I found the consideration of any scientific problems distasteful to me for an entire year... It is in fact nothing short of a miracle that the modern methods of instruction have not yet entirely strangled the holy curiosity of inquiry; for this delicate little plant, aside from stimulation, stands mainly in need of freedom; without this it goes to wrack and ruin without fail. It is a very grave mistake to think that the enjoyment of seeing and searching can be promoted by means of coercion and a sense of duty." - Albert Einstein on Public Schools

oh, i was talking about the home schooling segment in the film. i dont know how many of those kids in the film were home schooled but, that was pretty disturbing.
yea, the public school system isnt too great. but at least they teach science instead of spin. did you see the global warming thing? lol, theyre basically teaching the kids to not reason. and its blatantly politicized.

And I didn't learn to reason in public school. I learned a whole host of bad lessons and it was a very negative experience for me. There's no way in hell I'd send my kids to Jesus Camp, but I also wouldn't send them to public school either.

Oh yeah... I just saw that. Scary movie.
What's most frightening is the way in which there is a systematic attempt to find the most vulnerable... children an obvious one. But then the mentality is spread... The little girl wanting to be a manicurist in order to catch people relaxed and open to conversion- while a stupid idea- is frightening because it indicates a learned propensity to seek out vulnerable potential converts. It sheds more of a light on why so many hardcore evangelicals want rid of the welfare state- that makes the church a monopoly and gives them access to far more vulnerable souls. Another thing that's creepy (something I remember about myself back in my religious days) is this notion they get that every little feeling that they get is somehow "from God" and thus infallible. The camp appeared to be a total institution, and the mega-churches an extension... brainwashing. I didn't think religionists actually brainwashed. But this is video evidence that at least some actually do!

I didn't quite finish watching the first segment. Oh, it's just so wrong. Faith is not emotional. Watching it made me a little nauseous. I would be surprised if most of those kids didn't reject God someday because of this trash. It soooo has nothing to do with anyone's personal relationship with God. Standing behind a kid screaming... just wrong.
As bad as it is, it's also none of my business or the govt's.
