    Prior to World War II, media critic George Seldes took Time-Life publishing magnate Henry Luce to task:

    Henry Luce's magazines—In 1934 he devoted an entire issue of Fortune to glorifying Mussolini and Fascism..and in Time he permitted an outright pro- fascist, Laird Goldsborough, to slant and pervert the news every week.
    A fascist system is the best investment climate.
