"The Daily Show" won the Television Critics Association award for outstanding news and information programming, beating out shows that are actual news shows.
Of course, as anyone who's watched "The Daily Show" knows, it arguably is the most informative half-hour on television. And Samantha Bee is (*)(*)(*)(*) funny. What other show would use the line "Talking points: they're true because they're repeated a lot?" None, that's what. Congrats to Jon Stewart and the gang. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Unlike the Emmys or Oscars, the TCA votes in just 11 categories. The result is a short, punchy and eclectic list of winners that typically have little in common with other award events. Only television critics, for instance, would have conferred this year's prize for outstanding news and information programming to Comedy Central's "The Daily Show" — vaulting it over rivals like PBS' "Frontline" and ABC's "Nightline." It was a decision made on both merit and message. As my cross-town rival, Melanie McFarland of the Post-Intelligencer, said when presenting the award, at a time when the mainstream media seem cowed, Jon Stewart and company embody "a core of truth." You should have seen/heard the Faux News people whine and snipe at THIS!!! Oh it was delish...........Cal Thomas was so mad - -but all he could come up with is "we have people around the world putting their lives on the line - Comedy Central doesn't". Neal Gabler - the Demo-rat on that panel - laughed with glee and made a remark about "you Republicans" meaning Faux News - - and in the later showing of that program FAUX NEWS CUT THAT TRUTH FROM THE TAPING!!! They patched in a viewer email instead.....how pathetic. Just like their idiot-in-chief they can take NO criticism - - in 'w's case it's s classic example of 'stupid syndrome' defensiveness. In Faux News' case it's a matter of not wanting the sheeples to hear TRUTH. But why do the media squelch all the hard work their people are doing, just to parse out the talking points day after day after day? ALL the reporters on ALL the major media outlets ask the same questions of the same people over and over and over and over. Let's not forget they have FAILED to expose most of the lies and crimes of the 'w' regime too. GREAT CALL by the TCA!!! Slap those lazy 'hoes and make them remember what their job title actually means!!! |

Well, Ann is gonna have to put herself back on the streets at the pace she's losing jobs................
Ann Coulter's column on the DNC was spiked, because it was "not funny" and "unusable." Hmm...that seems a bit over-the-top (especially because USA Today hired, you know, Ann Coulter; it's not like she's made a secret of her hacktacular nature). So, what could Coulter have written? THIS: "Here at the Spawn of Satan convention in Boston, conservatives are deploying a series of covert signals to identify one another, much like gay men do. My allies are the ones wearing crosses or American flags. The people sporting shirts emblazoned with the "F-word" are my opponents. Also, as always, the pretty girls and cops are on my side, most of them barely able to conceal their eye-rolling." It goes downhill from there. No, really, I know that seems impossible, but it does. My only question is to the right: you say Democrats are drunk on Bush-hatred. What do you call this? |

Joe Scarborough, Republican pollster Frank Luntz, Pat Buchanan - all seemed to be almost...wow...DEMOCRATIC tonight.
MSNBC's "Convention After Hours" is actually (and surprisingly) a very fun show to watch. The panel is remarkably well-balanced, but even more shocking is Scarborough declaring he'd rather see Kerry in the White House than Bush. Luntz called the speeches "smart," "very effective," "masterful," and has hardly spoken a single negative word. Buchanan's being Buchanan post-2001. Ron Reagan's co-hosting with Scarborough. The guest panelists included Jon Stewart, Tom Brokaw and Tim Russert earlier, with Joe Trippi, Dee Dee Myers and a cross-section of newspaper columnists on now. As the hour gets later, they all get punchier. Guess they close the party at 2am ET. It's bearable network fare. High praise indeed. |

...Hate usually becomes toxic after awhile. Ann Coulter's brand of hatred is divisive and will become unprofitable.

For political satirists!
Wednesday on the Daily Show, Jon Stewart showed a clip of Cheney's stump speech in which he whines that his regime needed 60 votes in the Senate to pass his corporate 'hoe energy bill but they could only get 58 votes. H ethen says that Kerry and Edwards both voted no. Jon nailed him to the wall with: "you have full control over the White House, The House of Representitives and the Senate and the Supreme Court and those two nibs STOPPED YOU?" (then the knife goes in) "And you call yourself evil..........." OUCH!!!!! |
