I recently joined Free Republic, the difficult-to-navigate conservative Web site and posted replies to topics I wanted to discuss. I felt it necessary because I saw basically zero dissent on the site, and what good is an open discussion without actual discussion? Well, when I went to post today, I find that my "posting privileges" (privileges???) have been "revoked."
Perhaps I missed something, but if a site is deemed "Free Republic: Defending the Constitution," which part of a controlled discussion is free, republican, or conscious of the Constitution? I grow more and more wary of those who purport to hold the Constitution sacred without knowing one bit of what is included in the document. I, as a liberal, am accused to "stooping to new levels" all over that Web site, but certainly I've never stooped as low as this. In one word: pathetic.

Please do. I'm now reading of others who have registered, argued and have had their "privileges revoked." I think we should register in force, so they have to concentrate on censoring, rather than promoting.
Be forewarned: the site is nearly impossible to navigate.

Just read this statement by a Republican in IL: In fact, Republican Jim Oberweis, who flanked Keyes onstage along with other GOP candidates who lost in the primary to Ryan, called the race with Obama no less than "a debate between good on the right and evil on the left." So..are you surprised that the "FREE REPUBLIC" isn't really free.. |

I'm a good, idealistic person. I report for jury duty and actually get picked as the foreperson for a trial. I have never in my life committed a crime or hurt another human being. Even though I live in New York City and am constantly reminded of the current administrations' (presidential, gubernatorial and mayoral) shenanigans, I believe things can get better.
So, essentially, I consider myself to be a fair person who forgets that others do not play by the same rules. As my therapist recently said to me, "You think life is fair?" Alas, I am surprised whilst also realizing I should know better.

hate-filled morons on the internet bar none...
They are not interested in debate, they are interested in worshipping bush and attacking anyone and any thing that interferes with their message of hate, intolerance and bigotry... If the internet had a toilet, free republic would be it...

I've also e-mailed Free Republic to find out why I'm not allowed to post on the site, and, believe it or not, I have not gotten a response.
It must be so pleasant to willingly live in a bubble.

The web site is privately owned. You have no right to post if the owners say they don't want you to be there. As the man said, start your own site and restrict it to only those who agree with you. |
