Intelligent people know the truth. And they refuse to dignify this kind of garbage by even listening to it.

On top of that, it gives people the wrong impression. Even intelligent thinking people will think to themselves, "I know its not 1% because this guys a joke, but it probably is most."

Asperger's is almost the opposite of classic autism, for example. People with Asperger's are totally outgoing and often have inadequately opne personal boundaries, while those with classic autism are usually completely withdrawn and will not initiate or respond to communication with others.

Of course, this just gives an idiot like Savage the opportunity to attack innocent people, which seems to get him off.

Exactly. Mental health disorders aren't quite as easy to look at like medical diagnosis. Sometimes it tends to be so individual that it defies descriptions but it is important to diagnose so that the standardized most effective treatment is prescribed and there can be recognized communication between mental health professionals to a patient's problem.

and because of this complexity, shows like this, where the host is neither an expert or has an expert as a guest is doing a great disservice which gets us back to Robo's original point.

Should he be angry at this? Absolutely. What gets called entertainment by right wing hater panders to the lowest thinking of man. Some people have no empathy or compassion for others unless it happens to them.

I'm pretty much thinking that was his personal opinion. Something that he has a right to express. If you don't like it...don't listen to him.

I always thought of Savage as being some sort of secret liberal, being as outrageous as he can to bring out the worst in his audience. Sacha Baron Cohen should be paying Savage royalties to use the Borat character.

I agree that everyone has a right to an opinion.

However, nobody has a right to not be responsible for what they say. In The Savage Wiener's case, I hope to see enough people using their free speech to convince his sponsors to drop him, pronto.

Savage knew exactly what he was saying, and he is going to take responsibility for it. If you want to be an apologist for this kind of nonsense, go right ahead.

Just don't expect me to have respect for you, because you just burned it.
Well, I listened to him yesterday and he talked more about it and he is saying most are over diagnosed, but there are those who really have the disease. You must know whether or not you child has autism. I don't know you so I can't say if you're a bad parent. But I won't take back what I said and I support Dr. Savage's statements.

If my parents had listened to doctors, I would have been aborted, but once I was born had the listened to another doctor I would have been diagnosed with autism...turns out I just needed glasses.

I'm not going to lose any sleep over the burnt remnants.

Well, it goes from 99% incorrect to "most." What makes Savage's comments accurate? What is his source? Why would you find his opinion more believable than someone who has a practice and sees patients on a daily basis?

Yeah, diagnoses are a (*)(*)(*)(*)(*). Two out of my last three major medical issues were misdiagnosed. Appendicitis and blood clots. Still isn't going to mean that I'm going to stop going to doctors.

By the way, the question I asked regarding what two rule outs must be made before almost all mental disorders can be diagnosed? You had one. A medical condition--this can account for many symptoms that can be matched to mental disorders and must be ruled out.

Why should he be fired for an opinion? Since when did we make being a stupid gas bag illegal? Now, if advertisers decide to pull out and his show loses money I could see letting him go. His job is to make money after all. But he should have every right to be a moron. Which, after all, he is.

I agree the reason for the rise in indentifying Autism is related to greed of the pharmacuetical companies and Doctors.
