Default Russian Intelligence: U.S. Military Buildup on Iran Border

MOSCOW, March 27 (RIA Novosti) - Russian military intelligence services are reporting a flurry of activity by U.S. Armed Forces near Iran's borders, a high-ranking security source said Tuesday.

"The latest military intelligence data point to heightened U.S. military preparations for both an air and ground operation against Iran," the official said, adding that the Pentagon has probably not yet made a final decision as to when an attack will be launched.

He said the Pentagon is looking for a way to deliver a strike against Iran "that would enable the Americans to bring the country to its knees at minimal cost."

He also said the U.S. Naval presence in the Persian Gulf has for the first time in the past four years reached the level that existed shortly before the invasion of Iraq in March 2003.

Default MOSKALYASKA INTELIGENCIA ??

We don't need oxymoronisms such as 'Russian Intelligence' to tell us about the two battle groups that went into the Persian Gulf arena because we have CNN, NBC, CBC, ABC, BBC, CBS and more BS.

Default Not gonna happen

There is no way that Bush and co. are so out of touch with reality that they think the American people will support any kind of offensive on Iran. The majority now believes that Iraq was a mistake and that Bush doing a great job of making a bad situation worse.

However, if I'm wrong and ol' W actually does order some kind of "tactical" strike on Iran, then it will just prove that whenever you think someone has hit bottom, somebody throws them a shovel.

We will lose any war with Iran... unless we inflict a massive nuclear holocaust on its population. We will not do that.

Consider the following:
  • 1. Iran has no trouble in launching human wave attacks. (See Iran/Iraq War) Their naval strategy will be to swarm our large ships with thousands of tiny skiffs and inflatables. These units are suicide boats and will be equipped with high explosives.
    2. The USA has a small number of troops in Iraq. Iran will come across the southern boarder and into the Shi'ite regions. This will end our nation-building illusion.
    3. We have sided with the Shi'ite majority faction in Iraq and have used our might to protect them from the Sunni. This guarded alliance will be turned on its head and both branches of Iraqi society will strike back.
    4. Iran can strike at our interests in the region at its own time and at locations of its own choosing. Tel Aviv is very vulnerable.
    5. Most importantly, the USA can really only make war against Iran with its Air Force and Navy. No ground threat means no victory. However successful we may be in early phases, it will turn to dust once the smoke clears and no occupation army exists to hold ground.
The Borg will respond to its failure by blaming people like me who predicted its inevitable outcome.

Also the massive US land bases in Iraq are open to a wave of unstoppable missiles which will inflict huge US casualties. The net result will be the america public will want out.

Default Sure?

I understand the concern about escalating the war in the Middle-East. If blame had to be placed right now, who would be at fault for the escalation?

Consider the following:

1.) Mobilization time and cost would be minimized. There are already massive ground, navy and air forces in the region. Any Iranian invasion would be political and military suicide for any large organized military. The U.S. military is designed to fight this type of military battle. It is more likely that they continue the type of small scale incursion that we see today. Attacking Tel Aviv would be suicide for Iran and would ignite a regional war the scale that we have not seen to date.

2.) While the U.S. would take the lead, there would be several other nations involved. Unfortunately, Iran seems to have more support than Iraq did when we invaded.

3.) Presentation of military force is does not mean that there is eminent use. It seems more like posturing by both sides. If Iran wanted war, they would have declared it on one of the numerous opportunities the country has had in the past five years.

4.) A war with Iran would have a separate life-cycle and different mode of support than the Iraq war.

By no means do I think that another war would benefit anyone. I think that this is simply an opportunity for Iran to politically rebel and gain support from other anti-U.S. nations.

As if the ignorant sheep of this country know what's best for the country. All they really care about is who's still in American Idiot..err...Idol.

My only wonder is...after 2008, and some stupid Commucrat takes the White House, how will they respond when Iran takes US hostages. The Commucrats have already proven how happy they are to turn around and grab their ankles for the enemy. Don't think that Ahmedinijad isn't taking notes, every time Nancy Pelousy opens that hole on her empty head.
