Bush renews pledge to back Israel if Iran attacks

The United States and other Western powers have accused Tehran of seeking nuclear weapons under the cover of a nuclear energy program, a charge Iran denies. The White House has also accused Iran of aiding insurgents in neighboring Iraq.

Iran's top authority, Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, denounced the Middle East peace talks and said they were "doomed to failure." Iran was not invited to the talks but several other Arab neighbors participated in the three-day conference.

Be preferable to not have to defend Israel and simply destroy Irans means of attack and ability to produce nuclear stuffs now.

Yaaaaaaa - anyone can just look at history for the last 60 years and see how unlikely it is for an islamic state to attack israel.

So are they going to go through Iraq and take out all our forces or are they going to send one of their crappy fighter planes through Iraqi airspace?

Yeah, it's neccessary for us to be Israel's mommy.

I mean it's not like they have their own army, highly advanced air force, missile defense system, and nuclear weapons or anything...

If (and I think that's a very big if) Iran were to attack Israel, then I think that the United States should defend Israel.

Which is why I think Iran won't attack Israel. And every time somebody suggests that Iran wants to, I think they're trying to sell me something.

Israel has been America's most staunch ally. Bar none. They are closer to us even than Great Britian. And, I tell you, I just love the Brits.

In addition, she is the one thorn in the side of Islamic extremism, the one sole ineluctable proof to these facists that Islam will not be the guiding passion of all the peoples of the earth. To Islamists, this is important. They see Allah as guiding the Children of Islam to victory. But something like a victory in Iraq, or a victory in Israel, would be the single worst blow to the mindset of Islamic extremism, who believe they are the arm of Allah's Will.

Finally, these poor Jews who decided to build a nation in a land that was their own some 2000 years ago, they deserve someone to stand by them, shoulder to shoulder, in these, their hardest times.

When the time comes, I have a feeling that Israel will be in our corner, no matter the stakes.

Israel probably has over 200 nuclear weapons of their own. Get real.

This may be the all time dumbest post I've ever seen. Where do I begin... Our "alliance" with Israel is totally one-sided. They offer us nothing in return. If we're attacked, will Israel send troops? No. It dare not. Because strategically, it's in a terrible situation. It is surrounded by potential enemies. Plus, they just don't have the finances and the resources to send troops out. Again, IT IS A COMPLETELY ONE-SIDE ALLIANCE. I say "alliance" because our "allies" like to spy on us as well.
