Well, if your looking for songs along the lines of "feed the world...!" I haven't encountered any of the sort.
I guess the elements of nationalism and martyrdom have to do with (as much as I hate saying it) the culture. I can see, though, why these elements may seem out of place for you. With regards to your question, I suppose grief would best characterize the songs, in the sense of how Lebanon and Iraq were both lost to the destruction and death that ravaged the two nations....
