I don't know If Turkey is classified as Middle East; Here below a bull(*)(*)(*)(*) song, but its one what is exactly wanted by topic starter, it is also dedicated to Obama to bring the peace to the world Singer is famous with strange songs an acts like a comedian in society however he is seriously famous...

Anyway except this strange song there are hundreds of peace songs in Turkish. There is no need to add them one by one. I add below one which is dedicated to children died in Hiroshima and it is exactly an anti war song. The name ''Barıs'' which means Peace is one of the most popular male name in Turkey. However even they are not as populer as Barıs, there are names ''Savas'' which means War (war for your rights, honour freedom e.g). or ''Cihat'' (war aganist to Islam)

If you also search about Mevlana Jalal-ud-Din Rumi who was a muslim,
worldwide famous poet and sufi and his all poems about the love to God, people and about peace. His poems are song lyricks nowadays.

Actually it seems like he has a point. Both of those songs seem to be singing about nationalism, and how their have been wronged. Even throwing in some stuff about martyrs. Lyric wise, the songs seem like the sort of thing you'd sing to the 'ol war drums. I do appreciate that some things might not translate well across languages and cultures. How do you understand those songs?

The wind must be taken out of the evil sails of war, and Jordan must contribute its share to Peace not only in Music but also in concrete deeds.
I think we all appreciate that a peace song doesn't instantly create peace. I was just curious if the theme was out there.

Well, that's certainly something and I appreciate the link. I suppose technically Turkey is part of the middle east. But in terms of conflict they at least were considered part of the west insofar as they had a secular government, were quite developed, and part of NATO. We're all keeping our fingers crossed there.

Well, if your looking for songs along the lines of "feed the world...!" I haven't encountered any of the sort. I guess the elements of nationalism and martyrdom have to do with (as much as I hate saying it) the culture. I can see, though, why these elements may seem out of place for you. With regards to your question, I suppose grief would best characterize the songs, in the sense of how Lebanon and Iraq were both lost to the destruction and death that ravaged the two nations....

    Here's one from 2005

A special musical event took place in Israel last Sunday, when David Broza, an Israeli pop star and Wisam Murad, a Palestinian musician, performed a beautiful, simple peace song that they co-wrote, In My Heart (B'Libi). The song was played for the first time simultaneously on Galei Tzahal, the Israeli Army Radio and Voice of Palestine. Richard Silverstein blogged the event and added lots of background to the story.
