Your parents seem to have managed their accomplishments in Ukraine in the face of what writer Zev Singer would have us believe was an adverse environment: "Escaping the pogroms of their native Ukraine, Cecilia and Leon Asper came to Canada in the early 1920s."

In order to avoid giving the impression that you are using your newspaper empire to keep alive the nurtured hatreds and hyperbolized grievances of your ancestors, I wonder if you could not introduce some balance to your coverage of Ukrainian-Jewish relations?

For example, a story that is both more recent and more urgent than that of your parents escaping Ukrainian "pogroms," and perhaps more credible as well, and one which I don't think you have permitted your newspaper empire to allude to as yet, is the following:

Underneath such a headline, this newspaper relates that, reduced to despair by extreme material straits, a 39-year-old Khmelnytsky resident took a job in Israel. However, the terrible news shortly arrived that he had died there of poisoning by a tainted alcoholic beverage (even though all domestic sources insist that he never drank!). The body of the unfortunate worker was returned to Ukraine for burial. However, medical experts discovered that he was missing ... his heart! At the moment, this dreadfully-inhuman affair is being investigated with the help of Interpol.... (Ukrinform, 23 November).



Maybe Ukrainians Are Just Creating An Urban Legend?

There are those who seem ready to disbelieve all reports of organ robbery, and who thus would likely consider the above story of organ robbery, perhaps preceded by murder as well, as an "urban legend," as at

However, acknowledging that some organ-robbery stories are likely to be urban legends nevertheless leaves open several possibilities:



quite simply, that other organ-robbery stories are true;


that anyone interested in discrediting the true stories might do so by broadly disseminating false ones;


that one way of creating an urban legend is to label a true story an "urban legend."


I touch below on several reasons for thinking that the above story of a Jewish organ robbery of a Ukrainian may be true.

University of Glasgow pathologists who did an autopsy at the request of Sinclair's family, found that it had been returned without a heart (which they suspect was used for a transplant) and without the crucial bone needed to confirm the claim that he died from hanging.

And because it appears plausible that Alastair Sinclair did not hang himself but was murdered, and because it also appears plausible that the motive for the murder was the harvesting of Alastair Sinclair's heart, the similarity to the Ukrainian story invites us to upgrade the plausibility of the latter at the same time — which is to say, to upgrade the Ukrainian story from possible urban legend to possible murder followed by organ harvesting.

AL-KHALIL (IRNA) — The Zionist state has tacitly admitted that doctors at the Israeli forensic institute at Abu Kabir had extracted the vital organs of three Palestinian teenage children killed by the Israeli Army nearly ten days ago.

Zionist Minister of Health Nessim Dahhan said in response to a question by Arab member of the Zionist Parliament 'Knesset', Ahmed Teibi, on Tuesday that he couldn't deny that organs of Palestinian youths and children killed by the Israeli forces were taken out for transplants or scientific research.

"I couldn't say for sure that something like that (taking out the organs) didn't happen."

Teibi said he had received credible evidence proving that Israeli doctors at the forensic institute extracted such vital organs as the heart, kidneys, and liver from the bodies of Palestinian youths and children killed by the Israeli Army in Gaza and the West Bank.

The Israeli authorities normally detain the bodies of martyred Palestinians for a few days without any explanation.

The Israeli Army on December 30 killed three Palestinian boys, aged 14-15 near Khan Younis in unclear circumstances.

The army issued conflicting reports on the killing, while Palestinian sources charged that Israeli troops murdered the three unarmed boys in cold blood.

The bodies of the three boys were handed over to the Palestinians for burial on 6 January.

However, shortly before burial, Palestinian medical authorities examined the bodies and found out that the main vital organs were missing from the bodies.

The Israeli media have nearly completely ignored the affair.

Palestinian's organs go to Israel
The parents of a Palestinian boy killed by Israeli soldiers in the West Bank have donated his organs for use in Israel, in the hope of promoting peace.
Twelve-year-old Ahmed Ismail Khatib was shot in the town of Jenin by troops who mistook his toy gun for a real one.

His organs were transplanted into five Israeli children and a woman aged 58.

His father, Ismail, said saving lives was more important than religion, and added: "I feel that my son has entered the heart of every Israeli."

Ahmed died in hospital from his injuries after being shot in the body and head while throwing stones at Israeli soldiers who were hunting suspected militants in Jenin.

The Israeli army expressed regret over his shooting.

'Gesture of love'

Israel's parliamentary speaker, Reuven Rivlin, praised the Khatib family's action as a "remarkable gesture" after decades of conflict between Israelis and Palestinians.

Mr Khatib said he was very proud that his son's organs would help six Israelis.


"I have taken this decision because I have a message for the world: that the Palestinian people want peace - for everyone," he told the AFP news agency.

"We have no problem whether it is an Israeli or a Palestinian [who receives his organs] because it will give them life," added the boy's mother, Ablah Khatib.

Ahmed's kidneys, liver, heart and lungs were transplanted into Israelis including Jews, Arabs and a Druze girl, medical officials said.

The girl, aged 12 and from Israel's Arab minority, received Ahmed's heart, bringing to an end a five-year wait for a transplant.

Her father, Riad Gadban, called the donation a "gesture of love" and said his daughter was regaining strength after the operation.

His father, brothers and wife still bear the physical scars of the blast which claimed 25 lives. Zaeff survived for a week on life support. When he died, his family donated his organs. And last night, Aysha Buhada received one of his kidneys.

They waited for this transplant for two years. And finally, this Palestinian woman from east Jerusalem was saved by a Jewish victim of a suicide bombing.

Note how Halla backs his stories up with links...His story is more believeable then your propaganda, because he takes that time to show where it comes from, so it can be researched more easily as to it's validity.

As far as anyone here knows, your 'story' comes from an anti-Isreali site that promotes false/creatively edited stories to paint a negative picture of a situation that isn't occuring...Which isn't 'proof' of anything other then anti-Semantic propaganda with no facts, just opinions.

Not to mention, more then likely your story is from a link that's unreadable and you 'interpreted' it to suit your own purpose to spread negative/false information in order to foster your own biasness. Which still means it's anti-Semantic propaganda with no facts, just opinions and wishful thinking on your story's part.

It's really easy to say this/that source said this/that happened...But unless you provide clear sources that can be researched easily to find if their stories can be backed up with outside, unbiased sources? You don't have a leg to stand on darling nor any crediability.

The parents of Ahmed Khatib reminded us once again of the shared humanity of Palestinians and Israelis. As some Israelis and Palestinians had done before, they donated organs of their son, slain by Israeli soldiers by accident, to save the lives of Israelis. Wonderful acts such as these give us all hope for a better Middle East. Khatib's father stressed that this act stemmed from the ordeal of his own brother who died for lack of a transplant, and from his desire for peace and life for the children of Israel and Palestine. A beautiful gesture of love.

Not everyone is happy about these gestures of humanity.

Several years ago, the Iranian news service IRNA published an article that alleged that Zionists are killing Palestinian children in order to steal their organs. We kid you not.
You will find over 400 copies of the above article on the Web. The article was based on an admission by then Minister of Health Nissim Dahan that it was possible that some of the remains of victims had been used for transplants. He had said, "I couldn't say for sure that something like that (taking out the organs) didn't happen." Dahan is a member of the ultra-orthodox Shas party. We can't be sure that Dahan wasn't abducted by aliens and implanted with thought control either. Dahan's "admission" was probably part of a vendetta between ultra-orthodox Jews, who oppose organ transplants, and the pathology institute at Abu Kabir. The article implied that the children were killed purposely in order to steal their organs.

You read the article, and now you can see the movie.
