The moment Obama gets enough votes for the nomination of the democrats, he must have an interview with AIPAC so that he can obtain permission ot run in the uncomming elections.

This says a lot about what the USA has become!

How pathetic -

The great wonderful American Dream has been hijacked and in its spot the self interests of another nation has been superimposed.

If the USA was a true DEMOCRACY and its self interests were met by its OWN citizenry then this farsical situation would never be allowed to happen. AND NOW ITS OUT IN THE OPEN FOR ALL TO SEE.

Wake Up America - wrestle your dream back - stop sending your own young ones to foreign lands to fight others peoples wars.

Link? I can't imagine AIPAC has that much of a say. I can see them giving him some kind of rubber stamp for their particular lobby but that would be about it. I'm no fan of AIPAC or pretty much any heavy influence lobby group for that matter but they do some good work when it comes to keeping an eye on skinheads and other hate groups, which benefits everybody. They also go over the top though IMO when it comes to seeing enemies under the bed. It's 50/50 for me on their intrinsic value.

How is what the US military is doing in the Middle East in the best interests of the US people?

Now the Israeli regime is calling for attacks on Iran and Syria - why?

There is ONLY One nation in the region that possesses Nuclear Weapons and WMD's and thats Israel.

Israel is also the only nation that is Ocuppying stolen Palestinian ands, building illegal settlements, illegal walls and murdering Palestinian civilians.

These things are NOT to be discussed by the American People - its forbidden!

And of course if you criticise anything the fascist IDF carries out in Occupied Palestine youre branded an ANTI_SEMITE or Holocaust denier.

Especially when apologists for Israeli war crimes and atrocities are cornered with the truth and facts. Theats what they resort to. their last card up their sleeve - the anti-semite race card. Westen civilizations have parallel goals. Shocker. So Israel has a lobby? So there are Jews in government? It is in the US's best short-term interest to defend and support Israel simply for strategic reasons. The US is terrible at long-term interest/action projection, but there are few countries that have proven themselves to be good at that. Your contention that the US is solely to blame for the existence of Israel is obtuse at best. Your contention that the US should reconsider the long-term consequences of its support of Israel is fair. The question is what happens between.

I'm no fan of carte-blanche support for Israel. I do think their lobby is too powerful. I think it would be better if we judged our support of Israel on the independent merits of each issue, but it's equally hard to discern the long-term effects of those decisions as well.

Honestly, what do you propose should be done that would lead to a rational and stabile middle-east? You can throw out every sort of criticism of the US, but until you propose a better solution, you've really got nothing. NOTHING.

probably the main one which comes to mind, which is a while ago admittedly, is Nixon. He had a strong enough base not to appeal to the Jewish lobby at first, although he did cultivate them later.

The Jewish block are traditionally democratic voters anyway. i don't know if I would be as concerned about their influence as much as the Christian right.

regardless I don't think it's a good scenario for lobby groups to have leverage over government that extends beyond the mandate of the voting process , and that includes saudi/ israeli/ Oil and tobacco lobbies. i see it as potentially a road to corruption to have money floating so close to elected officials.



AIPAC and ADL [which I have slightly more time for]also run the risk of being too outspoken in political maneuvering which causes a backlash among politicians and voters. I still don't think they are quite in the position of deciding an outcome, especially not of swinging the Jewish vote away from their liberal roots. not unless they can convince the Jewish voting block that a candidate is dangerous, and the Jewish block is pretty famously independent thinking.

I can understand lobby groups but I don't like the concept. It's not one you find repeated in other western countries to the same degree although there are mechanisms for them. Being in with a special interest lobby can lose you your job in a lot of places.


And Sunni man, the whole ZOG thing is a myth. It's true that people want to look after their own interests but that is something that is the preserve of politicians trying to save their own jobs, 9 times out of 10. There's no mason-like group of plotters, just political maneuvering by governments to stay funded or get favours. everybody plays that game, no matter the country. Right now Israel does have a client position, but the position of head client has traditionally been passed around historically. At one time it was west germany,south Korea, south Vietnam, Argentina. As soon as the US has it's interest taken elsewhere Israel can lose that spot overnight or be pushed back into second or third.
