Every belief has its good or bad aspects depending upon which people believe in what manner. Different forms of zionism is present in all cultures and religions, practiced in different ways and described with different names. For instance, some Muslims talk about returning/reclaiming to Spain, some Christians talk about "restoring Iraq, etc. Zionism is everywhere and we may all be zionists in one way or another.

The Romans only became concerned with Jesus when the crowds grew and he started having public speaches - but as they were peaceful gatherings and didnt involve militancy or obvious resistance to the Occupation the Romans tolerated Jesus to some extent.

The Jews on the other hand were busy trying to recruit members in order to mount some sort of militant resistance to the Roman Occupation and hopefully push the ROmans out fo their homeland (ironically, its what the Palestinians are trying to do now to the Israeli Defense forces)

So Jesus the pacifist, preaching love thy neighbour and turn the other cheek etc was a massive threat to the Jews who were trying to recruit new commited militant members in order to mount some sort of effective resitance to the ROman Occupation.

There is No doubt that Jesus was BETRAYED by Jews who wanted to end this threat, The Romans then did what Romans did at that time.

It was a politcal assasination by his own people

Its not surprising - look at history - this type of political assasination happened before and after Jesus's time and all around the world in numerous cultures.

The motives and the end-effect is the same
