Israel is democratic, but also it is the ONLY Jewish state in the world. There are numerous Buddhist Nations, dozens of Muslim nations, maybe more then 30 Christian states. Only one Jewish state.

By allowing gentiles (mainly Muslim Arabs that smuggle through the border) to just marry any Jew there and then bore 10 babies like they do in Muslim countries then believe me, in 10 years, Israel will no longer be a Jewish State. Muslim Arabs will become the majority, vote for the most Parliament Members, and eventually their own Prime Minister. Jews will become a minority as they always been for the past 2000 years.

These laws are restrictive, but I doubt they are done out of malice or out of the assumption that "Jews are better then everyone" which is untrue. I believe it is done more out of necessity.

First, on the issue of "marrying a Cohen." The Kohanim were servants of the Temple. As such they are subjedct to a much different [and more stringent] set of rules then non Kohanim. As for the couple you are discussing, they can marry, just not in a religious Jewish ceremony. They can do as thousands of other Jewish [and non-Jewish] Israelis dfo every year: Jump on the ferry to Cyprus where they can get married in any manner they choose...those marriages are just as legal as the religious ones performed within Israel.

Within Israel, all marriages [and other facets of civil life] are the responsibility of the individuals' religion. If a Muslim wants to marry, they need to do it according to shar'ia, etc.

Israel is a secular state. However, during the years leading up to its formal REestablishement, the secular Zionists could only bring the religiopus Jews to the table by m,aking concessions. Hence, civil matters are the province of the clergy. All other matters are secular.

That's the main point man. Gentiles/non-Jews and Jews aren't allowed to get married in Israel. You say that they can go abroad and get married, that doesn't make up for anything. What if we outlawed Jew_non-Jew marriage in the States and just told them to go to Mexico? Would that make up for anything?
