Thread: Dedicate a Song to Someone

  1. Default

    For my friends at Smarties

[ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=po252Jj7P9Q"] Billy Joel - Scenes From An Italian Restaurant [/ame]

  2. Default Dedicated to my ex-DIL

The REFRAIN of this song is dedicated to my ex daughter-in-law who has done something so vicious that we are in litigation. The rest of the song doesn't apply, but the refrain, oh yeah.

Warning: this song has some explicit lyrics.

[ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3CQIObNzHfU"]YouTube - You're breaking my heart - Harry Nilsson (Breakfast on Pluto OST)[/ame]
"When you see that in order to produce, you need to obtain permission from men who produce nothing; when you see that money is flowing to those who deal, not in goods, but in favors; when you see that men get rich more easily by graft than by work, and your laws no longer protect you against them, but protect them against you. . . you may know that your society is doomed." Ayn Rand - Atlas Shrugged

  3. Default

To all the Prog fans on here!

I don't normally like to participate in these kinds of threads, but I couldn't resist. I always think of this song when I come here. This song came out in the 90's but it only seems to get more relevant.
"Conquer the angry one by not getting angry; conquer the wicked by goodness; conquer the stingy by generosity, and the liar by speaking the truth." Gautama Buddha

Liberalism is a "Religion of Tolerance" like Islam is a "Religion of Peace." Wrathful Buddha

  5. Default PF's Sweet Flowers

    Grand Funk Railroad- Heartbreaker
    [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uW3nPqPPBDw"]YouTube - Grand Funk Railroad - Heartbreaker[/ame]

To taste the innocence and charm
    hiding amongst secrets guarding
the mystery of her. She who calls
me now, and then, and who will
as always, reach me at all
times and every place and in me
    when alone.

Whispers so sweet, the finer they are spoken.
Voices on the wind drifting to my spirit .
Sounds of soft colors directed in me.
Pleasing rays of light the finest hue.
    Beautiful flowers the ripest buds.
    Heavenly creatures, angels all.
    Magnificent thoughts of wonder.
    The grandest architecture of structure.
Splendid as many, desirable as only one.
    Expressions of appreciation.

    Capturing this with thought and
skill the more I chase the less
my words run. Finally I will use
them for me. To be the comfort
of this besotted. For reading the
leaves of desire. The cost to me
    most weighty.

    Payment tendered with the
    vulnerable openness and
    wanton dreaminess hope brings.
The currency of which has been
    minted by my heart:
    Pain , love, want, desire
    needing, wonder, passion
    Intimacy, longing, lust
    and caring. Various denominations
of notes I use to pay for the things
I write that are felt with inner
strife and seen with ethereal reason.

Always as sweet flowers to my mind.
They call to me, rise and fall.
    Sprint and stop! Show sorrow,
feel pain and laugh, love with
    for and about us.

To give them their just reward
    and make an impression here,
    Lasting, real and known. Using
words to form pictures of moments
Carved in now, “as well they should be”.

They become part of me forever etched
deep in my heart as fleeting glimpses
of loves lost and reminders of sorrows
    gained.Triumphs felt and known.
    Becoming entwined with my soul
and living on carried with me in gratitude.

Blossoms of hearts they honor the soul.
    Nurturing us with their beauty.
Ever new and giving they pull us to them.
To my mind we are like dancers, step- touch,
move. Our rhythms quickening when familiar,
they step with me. Partners moving in time
stirring my notions in states of passion and
dreams that inspire me. On it goes leading me.
My fondness for them is as numbered as the stars
and as vast as all that I can know. Leaving me
touched and kindred seeking their sanctity.
    Sweet Flowers.

Personal choices from inner voices spoken with whispered lips, fund sorrows deeply known where I reason the right of our wrongs. Understanding when and why they were grown lends passion to actions lost through moments of us as, kind. Each to the other and further along with unanswered tries that turn to goodbye. From love's heeding, this loss moves fleeting lessening togethers needing. Giving us the beginning of an ends who's days portray this as nothings mends.
