"Those who cannot remember the past, are condemned to repeat it."- American Philosopher George Santayana
I support neither the Republicans nor the Democrats as I see supporting either as supporting the maintaining of the status quo.
I am pro-America, pro-working class, pro-family, and pro-human. By pro-America, I mean pro constitutional democracy with a republican form of representative government based on secular human ideals of individual liberty and freedom.
In November of 1977, Elton Motello released "Jet Boy, Jet Girl" arguably the world's first gay punk song --

In December of 1977, Plastic Bertrand released "a Plane Pour Moi" --

Notice any similarities between the two songs?
For anyone who cares to learn French...
Yam! Bam! mon chat Splash
Git sur mon lit a bouffe
sa langue en buvant tout mon whisky
quant a moi peu dormi, vide, brime
J'ai du dormir dans la gouttiere
Ou j'ai eu un flash *
Oooo-ooo-ooo-ooo!
En quatre couleurs *"
(Wham! Bam! my cat Splash
lies on my bed with his tongue puffed out
by drinking all my whisky.
As for me, not enough sleep, drained, persecuted,
I had to sleep in the gutter
where I had a flash
Oooo-ooo-ooo-ooo!
in four colours)
Allez hop! un matin
Une louloute est venue chez-moi
Poupee de cellophane, cheveux chinois
un sparadrap, une gueule de bois
a bu ma biere dans un grand verre en caoutchouc
Oooo-ooo-ooo-ooo!
Comme un indien dans son igloo
(Allez-oop! One morning
a darling came to my home,
a cellophane puppet with Chinese hair,
a plaster, a hangover,
drank my beer in a large rubber glass
Oooo-ooo-ooo-ooo!
like an Indian in his igloo)
Ca plane pour moi ca plane pour moi
Ca plane pour moi moi moi moi moi
Ca plane pour moi
Oooo-ooo-ooo-ooo!
Ca plane pour moi
(This works for me, this works for me
This works for me me me me me
This work for me
Oooo-ooo-ooo-ooo!
This works for me)
Allez hop! la nana quel panard!
Quelle vibration!
de s'envoyer sur le paillasson
Limee, ruinee, videe, comblee
You are the King of the divan!
Qu'elle me dit en passant
Oooo-ooo-ooo-ooo!
I am the King of the divan
(Allez-oop! The chick***, what a gas!
what a vibration!
to be sent on the door mat
filed, ruined, drained, filled
You are the King of the divan!
she says to me in passing
Oooo-ooo-ooo-ooo!
I am the King of the divan)
Ca plane pour moi ca plane pour moi
Ca plane pour moi moi moi moi moi
Ca plane pour moi
Oooo-ooo-ooo-ooo!
Ca plane pour moi
(This works for me, this works for me
This works for me me me me me
This workss for me
Oooo-ooo-ooo-ooo!
This works for me)
Allez hop! t'occupe t'inquiete

Quel le ciel me tombera sur la tete
et que la colle me manquera ****
Oooo-ooo-ooo-ooo!
Ca plane pour moi
(Allez-oop! Don't mind, don't worry
Don't affect me
It’s not today
that the sky will fall on my head
and I'll be without glue
Oooo-ooo-ooo-ooo!
This life’s for me)
Allez hop! ma nana s'est tiree
S'est barree enfin c'est marre a tout casse
L'evier, le bar me laissant seul
Comme un grand connard
Oooo-ooo-ooo-ooo!
Le pied dans le plat
(Allez-oop! my chick has gone away,
flew away, finally had enough, to break
the sink, the bar, leaving me alone
like a complete jerk
Oooo-ooo-ooo-ooo!
I've put my foot in it)
Ca plane pour moi ca plane pour moi
Ca plane pour moi moi moi moi moi
Ca plane pour moi
Oooo-ooo-ooo-ooo!
Ca plane pour moi
Ca plane pour moi ca plane pour moi
Ca plane pour moi moi moi moi moi
(This works for me, this works for me
This works for me me me me me
This works for me
Oooo-ooo-ooo-ooo!
This works for me
This workss for me, this works for me
This works for me me me me me)

The English version of the song by Elton Motello has completely different words than the French (Belgium) version by Plastic Bertrand.
The Elton Motello version is about 15-year old boy who has had a homosexual encounter with an older man and the anger he feels at seeing him with a woman.
The Plastic Bertrand version is about coming home and finding your cat has drunk all your whiskey, and it goes from there.
The backstory is a little convoluted, but it goes something like this -- The drummer on the Elton Motello version is a man named Roger Jouret. When "Jet Boy Jet Girl" was released, the producers at the record company thought it was a little too risque to be released in France, so they re-recorded the song with French lyrics sung by Roger Jouret - who is Plastic Bertrand - titled the song "Ca Plane Pour Moi", and had a hit.
Both songs were released late in 1977, and I'd heard "Ca plane pour moi" before. One night I was at a club when I was in college in the mid-80's, and there was a punk band playing. They launched into the opening riff, and I was shocked when the words to a song I knew and somewhat liked became a song about homosexual love, with the refrain "He gives me head!" I was even more shocked that people in the audience (including the girl I was dating at the time), knew the words to the Elton Motello version!
So there it is - one melody, two completely and totally different songs!![]()
