When do I get to start posting without admin approval, and how long does said admin approval take?

I am interested in the forum... but if today's posts are going to take more than a few minutes to be "approved"... well there are other forums, no offense intended.

It really depends on whether we are online at the time. I've been a bit lazy today, don't hold it against me. You might be waiting anywhere from a couple of minutes to a couple of hours. Just try and be patient with us.

Wouldn't it have been better to get him approved instead of typing the message explaining why he isn't approved?

I saw that he was approved shortly after he asked the question. That's pretty quick considering all the new members onboard.
