In a book i was reading recently (shadow of the giant) it explained a new kind of biological tool/wepon. It is fictional of coarse, but still possible.

It is a biological wepon of sorts. It is a virus that is embeded into the common cold. THe virus spreads from person to person , without anyone knowing that it is bringing the end of our entire race. It this wirus does no phisical harm to the individual human being, It heads straight for the reproductive system. It alters the genetic make up of the female eggs and the male sperm. The virus may not kill off all of the eggs or sperm, it could merly turn a key in the DNA of the sperm or egg. In the book it talks about genetic change that enables a person to become brilliant and have a brain that never stops learning or growing. Along with this positive come the negative of the rest of your body will never stop growing eaither, and the new bread of human will die of giantism by the age of 20 or so.

COuld a virus like that or one that kills reproductive cells or alters our current dna be put into the common cold and spread to all of man kind. Could this happen naturally, would it be a good thing if man exchanged intelligence for a long life.

If something like this did happen how could we deel with it. kinda scary.

So far no virus I can think of has 100% communicability. Plus someone is bound to have an immunity. But even then...
Such a virus is too complex and bent toward destruction to occur in nature. It would have to be manmade.
And it would be really stupid to make such a weapon since it would be uncontrollable once released. Plus it takes too long to kill off the enemy to be useful even if it were controllable.

but what if he intent of the the virus was to speed up evolution, to play god. WHat if the virus turned a key inside of your reproductive cells so that the next generation has this syndrome, for instance incredible intelligence, but they will die by the age of 20 due to giantism, because that is henegative f this turned key in our dna. Someone might think they are doing us all a favor by speeding up evolution, it might even be a good thing or i might not i don't know, its not reall yet but it is something o think about.

Metaphorically it's a good way to describe social engineering.
Thankfully social engineering tends to be systematic and reversable rather than physical and uncontrollable.
As of yet, I don't think there are any mad scientists in the government. And there would be a lot of hurdles to jump to get this kind of a project okayed.

If given he choice to do such a thing like release a virus tha would end the current human race, but create a new breed of humans, ones with intelligence far greater than our own but that died of an early age like 20 or so, would you do it? by age 12 yo would sart growing fast and coud reproduce, fullfillng your main purpose in life besides survival. By giving human this inteligence by the age of 7 they could run the government and be possibly discovering all kinds of new things. would the treasure be worth the early death , would you be willing to give up a long life for the intelligence of a god.

I do not think a virus would kill everyone, because like everyone has said, there would be an immunity. but during WWII, the US developed the Atomic bomb. Than later, the H bomb. We could eventually develop an ultimate bomb.

I agree with Java, the social weapon is much more significant.
