Default US activates missile defense system

So much for military secrets....

I've been following this one this morning.

Kyoto News reported this, it got picked up by Reuters, then AP, and here's the result:

I heard they were planning to shoot down the missile yesterday on FOX, and I could think is that I really really hope we don't get embarrassed on this one. (i.e. we actually try to shoot it down and fail horribly)

Considering the missile is located on the north eastern part on North Korea do you think that the nuclear armed powers of China and Russia would mind if the US put a warship within 300 miles of the Chinese mainland and shot down a ICBM?

Operational my but. Hay I got a thing called a transporter. It don’t actually work but I am declaring it operational.

As far as our ability to shoot down a ICBM what we got is the Arleigh Burke class destroyer. It would have to get within 40 to 90 miles to be close enough to have a chance of hitting the Taep'o-dong 2.

What did China do when we put warships close to Taiwan to do "exercises"?

They will whine and complain. Thats it.

It isnt like we didnt give China a chance to solve this problem on their own. It they cant control their satellite nations, we will have to take action ourselves.

And if the missile system doesnt work, hey, you can rejoice. Because that IS what you want, right? A chance to publically prove that NMD is a waste of money? We're doing you a favor.

...that the US should nuke North Korea (without intending any civilian casualties, of course)....

The ICBM works as long as we don't have to prove it.
If we are called on to prove it... we better hope it works.
