Iran fires 'first space rocket'
Iranian media say the country has successfully launched its first rocket capable of reaching space.
But officials said it was just for research and would not go into orbit.
Experts say if Iran has fired a rocket into space it would cause alarm abroad as it would mean scientists had crossed important technological barriers.
Iran has made little secret of its desire to become a space power and already has a satellite in orbit launched by the Russians.
The latest launch - if confirmed - comes at a time of mounting tension between Tehran and the West over Iran's controversial nuclear programme.

So will Bush use the year old plans. Also incidentally as the US forces have been playing in Iran why are the US forces in Iraq complaining about Iranian forces crossing the borders? It is after all just tit for tat.

Even with significant improvements in its tech and even with the addition of a small nuclear arsenal, Iran poses no real threat to the United States of America. As for Israel, it has more than enough Air Force and nuclear bombs to defend itself from Iranian aggression.

Exactly!.... all they will be able to immediately nuke is the Jews and half of Europe.

Problem is eventually Y comes around.....



The "so what" is that Iran is fervently improving its ballistic missile capabilites ..developing a delivery vehicle..at the same time its fervently and obviously trying to make nuclear weapons.
Their missile programs are the other half of the whole UN sanctions thing and they are co-operating as much with that as they are with their nuclear program.

Christianity was also said to be a religion of peace and just look at the Crusades.

Wow, I'm scared now. The Iranians can barely reach space and we can land on another planet. Just comes to show you how behind some countries are(especially communist countries and dictatorships).

And their nuclear program hasn't progressed much since Russia has abandoned them.

I agree with Great American. Iran dosent have the balls to launch a WMD at Isreal because for starters...1. The prevailing winds off the Mediterrianian Sea would spread the radioactivity back into the neighboring Middle Eastern countries. 2. Isreal will turn around and blow them off the face of the earth and beyond.
