Seriously, you would be surprised if you listened to Stacie Orrico. If she worked with a great songwriter, the sky would be the limit. Her voice is powerful and emotional. The first time I heard "Stuck on You" (pardon my rambling, I tend to do this), I was amazed by the quality of her voice. If you listen to the first few seconds you don't expect much, but if you listen a little longer you can't help being in awe of her ability. The only problem with the song is the lyrics, but Stacie Orrico could make any lyrics sound good.
Hilary Duff's "Come Clean" is not typical for her. I have heard clips of her other solo works- and frankly I can't stand them. I don't know who wrote the song or came up with the video concept, but they are simply brilliant. In "Our Lips Are Sealed", it is Haylie Duff who gives the song some real force. I haven't listened to any solo works by Haylie Duff, but I soon will, since she is much superior as a singer and her presence seems to give energy to the song. With "Love of a Lifetime", the song is infinitely better than the singer. If someone with great singing talent covered this one, it could be one of the best love songs ever. The same is true with Toto's "Africa". The lead singer actually sounds flat in certain parts of the song, but I overlook it because the song itself is so good. As for Enya, either you like her or you don't. I find her music to be pretty good (especially "Sail Away"), but other people find it to be boring. In my opinion, it is unfair to tag her with the "New Age" label, since I've never liked any other artists who have been so labeled. Finally, if you haven't fallen asleep from reading this, is there a job that pays people for being boringly effusive? |

Others: KC and the Sunshine Band "I'm Your Boogie Man" Enrique Iglesias "Don't Turn Off The Lights" Donna Sommer "I Feel Love" (dance megamix) Madonna "Ray of Light" (dance remix) Elvis "Fools Rush In" I don't mind if someone sees the interesting pictures I have of an ex-girlfriend on my computer. But I'd be mortified if anyone knew I listened to Elvis, Madonna or Donna Sommer whan I'm feeling a little daffy. And one of these days, I'm going to leave the drapes open while I dumb dance to "I'm Your Boogie Man". Hey Marge, looks like Mr. Hard Rocking Race Car Dude finally wigged the f' out! Look at him over there. He's havin' some kinda fit!

After listening to her more recent music, no caveat is necessary. I am an unashamed Hilary Duff fan! Listen to "Fly" and "Beat of My Heart". This isn't the same kind of music she sang for a teen TV show. "Fly" is deeply inspiring, while "Beat of My Heart" is energizing in a hypnotic sort of way.
