Why I'm Authoritarian
I'm not asking for advice or sympathy. I just thought a bit of painful honesty might help you to understand why I hold certain bizarre sociopolitical ideas. This is a quote that describes me with (from my perspective) disturbing precision:
"Throughout history power has been the vice of the ascetic." (Bertrand Russell)
Given that I can't be attracted to any woman ever without having a panic attack, the source of my authoritarian tendencies is obvious. I feel that I have no control over myself, so I compensate by attempting to control others, specifically on matters related to my own form of asceticism. I try, in turn, to justify certain authoritarian ideas by taking libertarian stances on issues that mean much less to me, such as economics and gun control. I know myself too well to imagine that any of this is honorable in the least. It is, however, an inevitable mechanism of human psychology. If you offer advice, I'll reject it and if you offer sympathy, I'll shun it, since I don't want to be a burden on anyone. I just wanted to make it clearer why I go on authoritarian political rants. Thank you very much.
