I'm currently working part-time as a government clerk, part-time as a salesman, part-time as a caregiver, part-time as a research assistant, and I am a part-time student. I graduate in May and I'm looking for a full-time job, preferably just one. Alternately I'm hoping my fiancee will find a computer engineering job somewhere, so that at least I'll know what state I'm going to live in.

Have you and your fiancee looked into OH? I know it doesn't seem like an obvious choice, but Columbus (and I think Cincinnatti) is a very good market for white-color type of employment, and the cost of living isn't too bad. But then again, with your fiancee being in the tech field, she might have a really hard time finding an entry level job anywhere.

That sucks. Because it's also hard to find an entry level job with a liberal arts B.A. from what I can gather.

If the B.A. is in Liberal Arts, then that is very true.

It's in Sociology with a minor in PoliSci. There are quite few jobs that claim to be looking for soc majors. But then they also want at least a year of experience in this and that. Looks like my fiancee and I will wind up at the temp agency in a couple months.

I could be wrong about that though. The situation might be different on the hardware/engineering side of things. But on the software/development side, the field is crap - it's pretty much impossible to land an entry level job.

As far as your situation goes, things might not be as bad as you think. It depends on what type of work you are wanting to do. If you're willing to get involved in the corporate world, it might not be too bad. Here in Columbus, with an (any) undergraduate degree, you can easily get a job through a temp agency for $10/hr to get your foot in the door somewhere. Pretty much everybody I know got their start that way. I know a chick who graduated a few years ago with a degree in phychology or sociology or something like that. Right now she's making $80k as a corporate trainer.

Those are very tough majors/minors for an undergrad. There are jobs for psycholgy and sociology majors, but not a ton.

Currently the only options that seem viable are the NSA and IRS. I'm also considering selling real estate. It seems I must work with the forces of evil to get my foot in somewhere.
What I really love are the jobs in other states where they refuse phone interviews and refuse to help with your transportation. They say "Oh yeah, if you happen to be in California..." It would just be my luck to wind up spending a week's pay to go out for an interview only to find it's a pyramid scheme. There seem to be no end to those either.
It doesn't help that I'm not sure if my resume looks good and have no concept of how to write a cover letter- bragging has never been my strong suit- can't do it without being funny. Anybody know if Comedy Central is looking for soc majors?
