Wow. Force. Carmen Miranda's niece? I'm drawing a blank on Hollywood types or even sports stars. Seems like there ought to be something at my age, huh? I live close to Nolan Ryan, but never met him. Of course, I know many people who know or have met government biggies. I knew Doris Angleton and her family, but she's famous here in Texas because of her murder. When I lived in Auburn, I almost hit Terry Bowden's truck when he ran a red light. Oh well.
I thought of one! My office manager's son's fiance is Gary Kubiak's cousin! LOL! (head coach of the Houston Texans). HAH! Top that!

Both of my parents were in show business so, as a child, I met many (national) celebrities. My mother was a celebrity in the UK in the `60s.
As an adult, and totally unconnected with showbusiness, I have rarely met anyone famous. A few at my mother`s funeral and a couple more, years later when I assisted my father in a legal action against a TV comedian and tabloid newspaper. My father, all his life, worked with national and international stars from Benny Hill to Ol` Blue Eyes but I never met them. I did once have a blazing row with one of Prince Charles` bodyguard over a parking space. Apparently, as a subject, I don`t have the same parking rights as royalty.

...a bus ride with the daughter of a very well known British TV comedian. She was 17. I was 15 and a completely over-awed and enraptured audience for her as she casually explained how grown-up she was, how sophisticated and worldly-wise she was and that her favourite sexual position was on the back of a motorcycle (even at 15 this seemed to stretch credibilty)!
I shall not name her as she currently has a TV career of her own.

I know that he is controversial, but I had an e-mail conversation with Erik Whittington, the Director of Rock for Life. I am pro-life, and I agree with his basic goals. The topic was the sympathies of specific musicians, since I generally don't want to endorse artists active in the pro-choice movement. Of course, since I'm also against the war in Iraq, I've grown a bit more realistic. I would have to boycott nearly everyone, so these days I generally try to keep art and politics separate.

I saw Gallagher eating at Epcot Center in the cafeteria area.
My great-great-great (-great? I get lost on that part) grandmother met Cochese. We are all indirectly connected to Michael Moore because he used to post here

....has led me to forget about my own moment of celebrity status.
At the age of six or seven I appeared on the TV celebrity quiz show "Who's Baby?" (you must have had something like this in the States). I recall the show was hosted by a TV magician/comic called David Nixon. The panel trying to guess my mother`s identity included Diana Coupland and Gerald Somebody, the star of an awful daytime show called `Hadley`. My fee comprised of a set of `Just William` books and a five pound note. I still have the books.

I once met (when I was a 'normal' student) then President Nelson Mandela when he visited our uniersity, and then proceeded to spill all my coffee on his shoes, in my eagerness to shake his hand.
What a great impression AH
