Default The Grim Reaper Pays a Visit

This happened a couple months ago. There is a receptionist where I am working on a contract. Her nephew got a call from the highway patrol. The nephew's wife and three kids had gotten into an auto accident. The wife was driving on a rainy highway. A car came across the center line straight toward her. She swerved off the road, but it was an embankment next to a river. The oncoming car smashed into her, and the wife's car rolled into the river. The three kids, all infants, were strapped into their seats. The wife was decapitated. The three children were all drowned.

The receptionist says the nephew is barely holding on to his sanity, and is seeing a psychiatrist. He had his family's bodies cremated, and keeps the urns containing the ashes.

Every day may be your last.

So true.

What a terrible catastrophe to befall this poor family.

Years ago I worked with a guy that was a year away from retirement. That's all he talk about. While on vacation, he was changing a flat on the side of the highway and got hit by a car and killed.

What's the life lesson here? Stop looking forward to anything?

I guess the lesson in this case is; live life as if it were your last day......
If I followed my own advise though.....I certainly wouldn't be pecking away on a forum.

Tragic yes. But to worry about death coming at any minute will only increase your chances of a heart attack or stroke coming a bit sooner. Prevent the things you can foresee and don't worry about those you can do nothing about. You're going to die at some point and you are likely to lose some loved ones before that. But it does no one any good to be miserable in fear of when that is going to happen. Embrace your loved ones while they're here and make your plans as though life is going to be normal... because most likely it will be.

I said a prayer for all involved. I'm sorry for being so hard on you in debates, Jake. This puts things in perspective.

Don't go all soft now, just because jake can tell a weepy story.

Did I tell you about my 3 legged cat? and the nasty boys from the rough housing estate and the bag of fireworks?
