One of the things I like about City of Heroes is that they have stayed true to the genre for the most part. A small but vocal minority of anime fans have been asking for cartoony costume options, and so far the DEVs have said no. They seem to be wantng to keep the feel of mainstream comics in the game, which is why I like it.

CoH is implementing a crafting system in the next update in a few months which should be really cool. The thing that makes it unique is that it comepletely removes the need to camp or farm any spawn. Something that plagues pretty much every other MMOG. The invention system will allow you to create custom enhancements which can be collected into sets, and will also allow you to contruct costume pieces not otherwise available.

I switch back and forth between CoH and EVE every few months. I like EVE because the backstory is detailed heavily political (Naturally I chose the Caldari...the neocon race), and because it is real PvP. I like CoH for the shoot-em-up factor and ability to customize.
You sound like you have a severe case of altitis.

The exp is fairly brutal, so although I would love to switch servers to own you in Recluse's Victory, I will be staying on guardian.

I am 1.5 levels away from my first 50. Did PvP for the first time this weekend, and kicked the butt of the 3 villians who didn't run from me.

Teaching a full load, preparing to go back to High School, and being Married puts a big damper on my game time, but I enjoy CoH/CoV very much.

I can count on one hand the number of times I have PvPed in City of Heroes.

It's not that I dislike PvP...I was one of the major proponents of adding PvP to the game. But there is no real benefit to it except for bragging rights. You stand to lose nothing if you are defeated. PVP in City of Heroes isnt any better than PvP in World of Warcraft....except that in CoH you have a lot more options for how your character looks.

I still like having the option to PvP though. I am glad they added it. There was a small and annoyingly vocal minority who campaigned against having it added.

Not really. I have been playing the game since launch. 30 characters over several years isnt that much really.

Here are a few of my characters on Champion:

Come to think of it, we've seen very little from pinniped since DBG "left" -- they used to get along so well.

Ah yes, the olden days of PF...
I remember when the (much more liberal) forum seemed dominated by posts from TrueBrit, MarkH, OddlyCalm -- now all gone.

It's kinda like the halfblack halfwhite star trek episode... they just sorta bounce from one forum to another in the never ending battle for I dunno what.

No way, Ted. DBG was NOT part of the racing crew. Pinni just thought that she was some guy named l8braker that haunted him from 7G. It was sort of scary, actually.

But DBG was NOT a race fan.

Also, oddlycalm is not a liberal, nor really a conservative. Just a wise dude with a realistic view of the world, that leans towards the conservative/libertarian.

For those of you that were NOT here at the very beginning, foulmouthedmargaret (did I get the name right?) was a Master at debate. You could post about kitties or something, and pretty soon she had you doubting the color of the sky, hell, even you own gender, if she chose to. that was fun. Er, maybe not the gender thing. EuP could just BURY you in facts, about things that you thought you knew something about. Very learned guy, beliefs be (*)(*)(*)(*)ed.

(Ted, thanks for the note. I'll 'splain sometime.)

btw, haven't seem much of Truebrit around here in a long while. Have you seen Odd in any of the racing forums? ask'im to come by here if so.
