Default Well, it might not be global warming

Ever since I was a kid, this has always been the hottest time of year where I live. Not unheard of to get up to the 40s and even though summer's `officially' over, March is traditionally a very hot month.

However, not THIS hot. At the moment, in lovely sunny Perth, it is just after 6.00 at night and it is 42.6 degrees (108.7F). Thank God the humidity is only 10%, but I am not exaggerating when I say that leaving the office today felt like opening the oven door when a roast is on.

Dry, baking heat, searing every pore. People die in this kind of weather. We are in the middle of our worst drought, ever, our farmers are in despair, and although it's got this hot plenty of times in the past, I know the greater climate issues are at work here, too.

And that's only in the city. The hottest temperature in Western Australia today was in Carnarvon, WA's biggest banana growing region, which peaked at 47.8 degrees, or 118F, (http://www.abc.net.au/news/newsitems...3/s1865480.htm) and you can't tell me that hasn't got anything to do with global climate changes.

Do you ever go out your door and look at what's going on around you and just get scared? I get scared enough for this world that it puts me to sleep in tears, sometimes. Come visit Australia, naysayers, and see what climate change is doing to our beautiful country.

Good post Chesby. I'm fair headed so needless to say I would'nt last two minutes where you are right now! I'd come out looking like a beetroot pie! I'm in the North of England at the moment and it's lovely, a sunny mild day! Have a nice day Chesby

We have the same here, Ches. Hottest summer in a loooong time, and the dryest one in an even longer time. WE've had six declared heatwaves, and I can't stand the heat. It is well and truly hell.

It is indeed. Give me a long cold winter with as much rain as possible and I'll be truly happy.

Although, sadly, it hasn't rained properly in Perth for years. Everything is dying - literally.

Default .

Yeah, it will be summer in my country in the next few weeks. The last few summers have been nearly intolerable. Rivers and wells dry up so water is very limited. Summer has become hotter so something must be causing it.

To make it worse, the rainy season has also been terrible. Thousands died in my country last year because of flash floods, typhoons and mudslides. Something is definitely screwing up the climate.
