But anyway... I think this is actually common sense... but what was interesting I think is the myths we have about jerks being so useful... and smart. This "brilliant but cruel phenomenon" he speaks of... we've seen it. First thing I think of is the typical pundit: Ann Coulter, Rush Limbaugh, Al Franken... They all make sure to get in those extra nasty insults... and it's part of their appeal as if it adds credibility. I think it's part of a larger phenomenon that people (often wrongly) assume that saying things simply and confidently makes them more true. What do you guys think? It's true! I had a run-in with a pair of women at the shops last night. They really got up my nose and so I returned a suitable response. I don't take lip from people - if they want to dish it they can deal with the result.
However, it got me in such a mood afterwards that I forgot the toilet paper and the rice crackers! Ack, I hate that
