I've always like outdoor amphitheaters for summer concerts. Here are the two I go to now.
The Hollywood Bowl: The famous 18000 seat amphitheater that has been a Los Angeles fixture for over 80 years. Here are a few photos: http://www.geocities.com/seanyspics/hollywood_bowl.jpg http://www.hollywoodbowltickets.org/...-bowl-pic4.gif http://www.upbeat.com/lieb/intervals...ood%20bowl.jpg The last one shows the top rows - famous for costing only a few bucks, and the spot of choice for winos. I used to sit there when I first got out of university. The Verizon Amphitheater (Irvine) 15,000 capacity. Verizon has renamed several theaters around the country - I think this commercial renaming thing is gross. Locals know it by it's former name, the Irvine Meadows Amphitheater. A couple photos. http://www.vanguard.edu/uploadedImag...ur/verizon.jpg http://www.fiveeight.com/fiveeight/photos/rem4.jpg I would be interested in hearing about any interesting amphitheaters around the US, and something about their history and some good photos if possible. I like to visit these places in the summer if I'm traveling.

Saratoga Springs, N.Y., has an excellent amphitheater -- the Saratoga Perfoming Arts Center.
http://www.spac.org/ Go in August, and take in some horse-racing as well. Then bop a few miles up the road to Lake George, where New York City goes to party in the summer. It's pretty dead the rest of the year, but the summer was always fun.
