There is a very old and free internet game called Kings of Chaos.

You pick a race, are given a small army, and an income.
You are limited to what you do, but there are many options.

1) Attack other kingdoms #1 activity
2) Defend and improve the military of your kingdom.
3) Spy on enemy nations to pick out rich and weak targets.
4) Form alliances.
5) Work on your spy and anti/spy force.
6) Hire merecenaries.
7) Train your soldiers .

The overall basic goal is to build up your kingdoms army. This is mostly done by attacking other kingdoms and stealing their gold, which you then use to build up your own.

I quit playing the game many years ago, because it had a game flaw, which has since been fixed.

It takes about 15 mins per week to play. Or you can probably spend 15 min per day, if you want to be more active.
