Default Need some advice here - I ran away from American hospital

For 30 years this is first time I go to an American Hospital for an emergency.
My gall bladder attack me last Friday and it least for about 9 hours, I was in such pain that the closest one can compare is to give birth. After I was admitted to the hospital, I had to answer all kinds of questions to all kind people, then I was feeling very cold and request the nurse to add an extra blanket, She did not show up till half hour later then she measure my body temperature and told me that I had a fever and would not give me an extra blanket. When doctor arrived he told me that I need a surgery within 24 hours, so the following 24 hours I had no food and no water and preparing for the surgery. Finally the doctor removes 3 large gall bladder stone and I thought I can go home next day but no... Doctor told me that I need to have my gall bladder removed. I was hesitating to do that procedure; the next day after I went through HELL in the hospital for 50 hours, I decided to go home and not to get my gall bladder removed. Here comes the question: The hospital told me that I can not do this against doctor's order if I do so my insurance may not cover this whole Trauma. I said xxxx you I can not bear to stay in this hospital for one more hour, if you want to report to the insurance company... I just have to pay you $20 a month till I die.

My question is "does patient has any right to deny a surgery that doctor's recommended?"
Do I have a good case to defend myself with my insurance company?

Please give me some advice. Thanks.

Yes, a patient has the right to deny any surgery a doctor recommends.

As for the $20 a month till you die, that might not amount to much more than $60......I'm just sayin'.

You got treatment and they wanted to do surgery? In under 24 hours?

Dang, don't let the Europians and Canadians hear that. They think they have it great only waiting a few months for the same thing.

And all it took was a few hours of waiting and some questions.

He already removed the gallstones? I say get a second opinion, jc. Some doctors have a scam going. I didn't need my gall bladder removed at all. It had nothing whatsoever to do with the problem I was having. That surgeon had a regular scam. Now I have issues that I believe are caused by having no gall bladder. Don't let them bully you until you at least get a second opinion.

Why don't they just remove the gall bladder the first time instead of the stone? When I was in Taiwan accompanied my mom for a serious medical procedure in the hospital for a week, it only cost $400 US dollars and everything the hospital charged is pretty much the average consumer price. Plus all nurses were professional and kind. They took good care of my mom.

Just give you one good example how foreign nurse non-English speaking nurse aid treated me... In the middle of night I saw a black shadow handed me two Tylenol with no water, I was wondering that she actually think that I was capable of swallowing those 2 pills without water? Finally I decided to give her a tip so she can treat me nicer, she said No, it is against hospital’s policy.

So how do you survive in the American Hospital?
