Default Redbreast Irish Whiskey

Has anyone ever tried it? I am at the Irish Cottage in Galena Illinois and might I say this is the best Irish bar I have ever been in. It is called Frank O'Dowds Irish Pub and I just drank what I consider the best Irish Whiskey I have ever tasted, Red Breast. I don't know if it a fantasy about Catz, but man is it good.

Please list your favorite whiskey.

I have 5 years experience as a bar tender at one of the finer Irish pubs in the entire country with over 80 top shelp whiskeys and scotch. Red Breast for your buck is probably the best selections you can make, it is highly complex. For an even more reasonably priced but in general, a superior whiskey try John Powers.

Most highly recommended though a bit pricey is Usquabach Highland blended scotch whiskey. It comes in varying ages 10 - 25 years. The oldest will change your life!

God I miss working there, we had bottles that were absolutely impossible to find, out of production and soooo good!!! We regularly bought up old collections from widows that were 50+ years in the making.

This place doesn't have that many - I did see Powers (is that different) and will try that tonight - they also have one called Middleton at $20 an ounce. This place was built in Ireland, then shipped over here piece by piece - it is really cool.

I'm partial to Paddy, which you can no longer get in America, then Tullamore Dew. But when I'm in Ireland I drink pints rather than whiskey.

A White horse walks into a bar and asks the barman for a T/Sunrise.

The barman starts to make polite conversation "do you know we have a whisky named after you"

"(*)(*)(*)(*) me!" replied the horse, "give me a large Blue Tit on the rocks"

IMO middleton is too subtle, which isn't a bad thing for everyone. There is a 35 year middleton. It's probably the longest aged scotch available in the states.

My favourite is :

Lagavulin whiskey - from the Isle of Islay off the west coat of Scotland - it is a warm, peaty malt whiskey.

As for blended whiskey - I like "White Horse"

Isn't Lagavulin the Single Malt used in the making of White Horse? I am partial to Glenmorangie Port Wood finished in my Single Malted nights.
