Myopicmouse, I think I speak for pretty much everyone when I say this, YOU HAVE INSULTED EVERYONE ON THIS TOPIC! Especially when you thought you needed to go into detail about the process of extracting organs that are donated when the subject of this topic is about loved ones dying. How offensive!

As far as Pengirl goes....although I've never conversed with her on this board...by reading her past posts, only a person like you mouse could get her so riled up.

Mouse you bring out the worst in us with your offensiveness.

it's hardly insulting to say what organ donation is, it's the truth...maybe a lot of people here just arn't used to hearing it. fact is is was explaining why some people choose not to and why they shouldn't be belittle by thoughtless comments. i have been the most sensitive person on this topic....maybe you lot just don't like to admit it.

pengirl - yea, you just keep your forum keyboard skills....it's probally all you have.

Default Personal opinions on organ donation aside...

Whaddarya, kidding me?! Whether or not you agree with the actions of the parents does not soften their sorrow or ease their pain. It's sad when a "grown-up" dies; it's devastating when a child does, which I believe was the original point of the thread.

BTW, Mouse, you might want to check out this website from the federal government; it may clear up some of the misconceptions you have about organ donation...

From the site:

Myth: Donation will disfigure my body.

Fact
: Organs and tissues are removed in procedures similar to surgery, and all incisions are closed at the conclusion of the surgery. An open casket funeral is possible after donation.

IN MY OPINION, for the parents to make the difficult decision to save the lives of up to 25 other people in a matter of minutes after such a traumatic loss is worthy of the commendations that they have received from nearly everyone on this thread. I too believe there is a special place in heaven for people who do selfless things such as this, just as I believe there is a special place in hell for those who do evil and justify it in the name of God... again this is just my opinion, so Mouse, please don't jump all over my arse the way you did my intelligent and SOOOO-not "20 stone" sister's...

Thanks.

imfully aware of the procedures, and as a university biology student have done enough 'surgical' disections myself. I can tell you now, a dead slab of meat, is exactly that, a dead slab of meat getting harvested. Adding "surgical procedure" in front of it doesn't change the process.

i commend their actions, im just saying lets not be insensitive to those who don't. i find these 'special place' comments typical of christian hypocrasy. my tiff with pengirl24 - was because she tried to insult me, not because of her views (as i never converced with her before that point!)
