You ain't got time to rant. Clock's a-tickin'.
My mom's a professional tax preparer, so even though I'm 37 I let her do them. 2006, though, may be the year I get weaned; she's retiring! The double hit for self-employment would be highly irritating. Since I'm a wage slave, it's hidden, so it doesn't bother me as much. I actually don't mind paying taxes; I think it's a civic responsibility, and I earn enough that what's left over is plenty to live on.

As long as the waste ratio stays relatively low, I'm okay with it.

My sister does my taxes. It's her job. She has incredible software. Even though mine are somewhat complicated, she just has to plug in the numbers and it does all the work. It even reminds her if she has an empty spot where she had a number last year. She doesn't give me the choice of procrastination. I have to give her my stuff as soon as I get it. She spends about 20-30 minutes on it. I used to do it myself, but I spent far more time than that on the phone with her asking her questions, so I gave up. She e-filed it and I got the refund several weeks ago. Every year she tells me it's my last refund, but every year I manage to withhold enough anyway. Next year, I will have 3 kids in college and should have about $20K in tax credits, but our income is just above the threshhold. I'd like to meet the person with 3 kids in college who considers themselves "rich."

I e-filed via TurboTax about a month ago. Our tax payment was deducted from our checking account last week. It seems a little less painfull when I don't have to physically write out a check.
