Default The Yankees and the weather...

So yesterday, it started out raining here in the great semi-Midwest of the U.S. of A. state we call Ohio. By early afternoon, it had started sleeting, and by the end of the day, it was full-blown snow!

This morning, I had to clear about two inches off of my car. This, I thought, was insane.

Then I remembered something I heard on the radio last night. I was falling asleep listening to the Indians playing Seattle, when someone said that the Yankees' record is 7-11. This morning, I was sure I must have been dreaming.

But a quick check of espn.com proved that not only was I not dreaming, but the Yankees are in LAST place in their division. As of this morning, the Indians had a better record than the Yankees did (we're now even as we lost to Seattle and they beat up on whoever they played) and we're not having a great season so far.

So this got me to thinking... first, Boston wins the series, then Cleveland gets snow a week before May begins, and then the Yankees end up in last place. Are these signs of the end times? Should I even bother finishing up loading my mp3 player? Should I rather be watching for the skies to open up and fire and brimstone to be rained down instead of the big, fat flakes that are currently continuing to fall?

Any thoughts on this? I know there is at least one Yankee fan on here...I have a feeling he doesn't want to talk to me right now though.

Default The Yankees will come around

They had an even worse start in 1997 and still made the playoffs losing in a 5th game to ALCS champs Cleveland. If their pitching doesn't improve they'll make a trade mid season for a better pitcher. I will add that the Yankees are running out of talent in their farm system. Their run is coming to an end soon and it will be rebuilding time, but they have another good season or two left.

Default 1997

"And thank you for bringing up such a painful subject. While you're at it, why don't you just give me a nice papercut and pour lemon juice on it? We're closed!" - Princess Bride

Seriously, I know it's early - I'm hoping for much better things out of my Tribe this year myself though last year all I could say was "when we get Wickman back, he'll solve our bullpen problems..." This year, we have Wickman back and he's sucking more than anyone. Weird. I'm going to blame Eric Wedge's mustache. I don't know what look he's going for but I don't like it. However, Coco Crisp shaved his head after a particularly devastating late inning loss and I predict that if we turn things around, the entire team is going to shave their heads. Now THAT is scary

But if the Yankees don't turn it around soon, I'm shaving my own head, heading to the airport and advertising Armageddon....why not? I was going to the airport in a couple of weeks anyway

Default Actually I was at Yankee stadium in 1997

When they lost to Cleveland. Forget which game it was, but David Cone pitched well early, but blew a lead that cost us the series. I just remember that everytime David Justice came up to bat the entire stadium was chanting "Halle Barry" as it was the time of his divorce. It pissed him off big time.
