Default Perfect albums

Okay, I can't remember if I've started this topic on this forum before. My description of a Perfect Album is one you wouldn't change anything about. I believe these to be few and far between, even by some of my favorite artists. So just in case I haven't started this topic here before, start listing now... (please no greatest hits)

I'm starting with what I've been listening to this morning:

Born to Run: Bruce Springsteen. This is one of those albums that I go in phases with which song is my favorite. Right now, it's She's the One - very few people outdo Roy in the make-the-piano-into-the-percussion-instrument-it's-meant-to-be category.

Bat Out of Hell: Meat Loaf. Again with the piano-as-percussion instrument category. On a hot summer night, would you offer your throat to the wolf with the red roses??

Talking Book/Songs in the Key of Life/Innervisions: Stevie Wonder

Small Change - Tom Waits

Layla and Other Assorted Love Songs - Derek and the Dominos. Finally, a guitar player

What's Goin' On: Marvin Gaye

Imagine: John Lennon

Capt. Fantastic and the Brown Dirt Cowboy: Elton John

Sgt. Peppers: The Beatles

Soundtrack to Superfly: Soundtracks are, for me, the rarest form of but when Curtis Mayfield is at the helm, can there really be anything wrong??

The Joshua Tree/All That You Can't Leave Behind: U2. You know what's sad? I consider them a new band.

Well, that's all I have time to think about right now. I'm sure I'll have a DUH! Why didn't I think of that sooner moment later though...

It's really too bad they don't make music like that anymore.

Amen. I am a dedicated 70's fan even though it's the decade I was born in so I don't actually remember most of the good stuff coming out. But it's like Denis Leary once said - all the good ones die young "but we could put Motley Crue in a room with two tons of crack and they'd come out with a double live album!" My real favorite part of that rant though? "John Lennon gets five bullets in the chest. Yoko Ono's standing right next to him - not one f*cking thing! Explain this to me God!!"

I love him.

Oh, and another DUH! moment - Zeppelin IV. Bonzo was the bomb! Can't believe I forgot them earlier. As Dave Grohl has said, "Without Zeppelin, metal wouldn't exist and if it did, it would suck."

Default this is a very subjective topic

So I'll put my own personal "Best Album"

In terms of both artistic ability and cultural impact I would have to say a tie between Nirvana's "Nevermind" and Radiohead's "OK Computer"

It's just amazing when you compare the the quality and variety of music that came out in the late 60's and early 70's to what we have today. Today, you could probably make money off of a radio station that only played music from '67-74. It makes me laugh to think that people would be interested in listening to a '97-'04 station 40 years from now.

It's just a joke - they were married and most people, to say the least, don't think much of Yoko. Given the choice between having her dead and having John Lennon dead, most of his fans would have chosen her. It's not so much that we want her to die, which would be really mean, it just would have been preferable to losing Lennon.
