Default British Music

I have to say, I am a fan of so many British bands, both classic rock bands and modern. From Queen, The Stones, Beatles, Supertramp, Black Sabbath to Coldplay, Oasis, Radiohead, The Verve... I could go on and on. What makes the British so much better musically than anyone else? Is it something in the water?

Default Must be

I have to agree with most of that list - and I've been saying for years that there is something in the water in Manchester at least. For some reason, the farther norther, the better for me. I can't seem to deal with anyone from south of Birmingham. When I discovered the Sisters of Mercy and that they were from Leeds, I hit an all-time high

Richard Ashcroft though - brilliant, brilliant, brilliant. His second album was years ago now. Anything new on him?

Yeah something that affects your speech. My sister dated a guy from Manchester for a while, and I never could understand anything he said. Half the time I couldn't tell if he was talking to me or someone else. Can't say how happy I am that he's gone back to England.

As for the music, Brits rock!

Default I do love British rock

but there are as many American bands that I like as well. I think my favorite artists list would be about half and half with one Irish band

Default Well...

Since we're talking British bands and not British ROCK bands, I have to chime in here:

The Brand New Heavies
Jamiroquai
Soul II Soul
The AfroCelts (formerly the AfroCelt Sound System)
(Am I allowed to refer to Sting and Peter Gabriel as "bands"? If so, they'd be at the top...)

And if I even START on 80s Music, we'll be here all day...
