I have to agree with most of that list - and I've been saying for years that there is something in the water in Manchester at least. For some reason, the farther norther, the better for me. I can't seem to deal with anyone from south of Birmingham. When I discovered the Sisters of Mercy and that they were from Leeds, I hit an all-time high
Richard Ashcroft though - brilliant, brilliant, brilliant. His second album was years ago now. Anything new on him?

Since we're talking British bands and not British ROCK bands, I have to chime in here:
The Brand New Heavies Jamiroquai Soul II Soul The AfroCelts (formerly the AfroCelt Sound System) (Am I allowed to refer to Sting and Peter Gabriel as "bands"? If so, they'd be at the top...) And if I even START on 80s Music, we'll be here all day...
