Default a Euro in high, black socks defeated Tiger Woods.

"a guy standing on a golf course"

Nope, it wasn't a guy. It was a bunch of Euro amateurs participating in the US Amateur when it was held in Houston several years ago. ALL the Euro's wore shorts with high black socks. I watched a Euro in high, black socks defeat Tiger Woods.

Bern would be about a 4 hour train trip at best and rather hard to get to from Heidelberg although I agree that it is well worth it.
Rothenburg is another town that is plain amazing. The whole city is still like cut out of the middle ages (with modern improvements like canalization etc.)
Check out their webcam @

and 58 pics of this amazing town can be found here:

But a stone's throw from Heidelberg are Worms and Speyer with two amazing gothic cathedrals.
Trier, about 2 hours by train has the ruins of the Roman empire you can visit as well....

Rebellion: thanks for bringing up St. Pauls Cathedral. I forgot about that one. Which one is the other cathedral in London...? The one that has all the royal marriages burrials etc. ? I could swear that there were two important cathedrals....

Default Holy Trinity Brompton

Okay, I will be serious. When in London, attend services at Holy Trinity Brompton. It is an Anglican church, and the Pastor's (Rector's?) name is Nickie Gumble. Nickie is known world wide for having begun the hugely successful Alpha program. Unlike most churches in London, Holy Trinity Brompton is a vibrant and alive assembly.

Bath has a really well preserved Roman bath house and other smaller attractions (other than being picturesque). Also the longest suspension bridge (and if not mistaken the longest bridge period) in the UK is right outside Bath over the river Severn by the town of Chepstow on the welsh side....

It is amazing what great sites people come up with.

Seem perfect to me.

Back on track....

Hey Neo, if you get the chance mate, you can get a European train ticket, includes a bunk in a cabin if required. I did it when I was a kid, you get a 4 week ticket for a couple hundred quid, can use it in any Euro country at any time. A buddy and me did France, Spain, Austria, Germany, Holland, Belgium, camped up in Hostels overnight for like £2 a night. A great and cheap way to travel and see the world.

Whilst in England, you HAVE to get totally wrecked in a pub.....its a very 'english' thing to do Just be careful which pub you go in!! My only advise for the whole trip is that when in Rome......do as the Romans. Try the wine and fromage in France, the chocolate in Belgium, the pastries in Germany, the *cough* in Amsterdam, etc etc.

Good luck with it all

Default soccer fan

Make certain you catch a Brit soccer game, but only after spending twelve or so hours in a Brit pub. Borrow some ballons (or whatever else the drunk Brits take with them to soccer games), urinate into them, and lob them out onto the field, just like all the other drunk Brits in the crowd do. It's a lot of fun, and you'll feel like a real Brit by participating.
