Default actually

As of this moment, much as I hate to admit it, the Yankees are half a game ahead of the Red Sox because Boston's game was rained out last night. Boston is also half a game behind the Indians for the Wild Card. Would love to see those positions (Red Sox and Yankees) reversed though.

I would laugh hard if the Yankees didn't make the playoffs

Oh, and Big Papi will win the AL MVP. He single handedly won more games for the Sox than any player has for his team for the last two years. He is indespensible.
The Yankees will win two of three in Fenway and will win the division.

And to add insult to injury, Alex Rodrigues will win both the AL MVP and the gold glove.

Boston had its moment and that moment is over.

Tim Wakefield just won his 16th game of the season (a real gem) and had a no-hitter going into the fourth as the Sox beat the Jays in a make up game from last night. Sox and Yanks are now dead even for first atop the AL East.

Default Oh dear

I forgot they were playing a double header today to make up for it. Good for Boston!! Now, if I could just wave my magic wand and make the Yankees lose tonight...

Default yep

Yanks take 2 of 3 in Fenway. Randy Johnson wins his 17th. Wang the rookie helps pull out the 2nd game. I'll be at Thursday's game with Yankee gear in tow.

The White Sox are trying to give up the division. How do you blow a 3-0 lead with what they have on the line to DETROIT?!

Default MVP

I can see the argument for Ortiz, he has made some huge hits for the Sox. Between he and A-Rod the numbers are similar. Tied in HR's, Ortiz has 15 more RBI's and A-Rod has 15 points better BA. The difference, as PJ pointed out, is that A-Rod is a gold glove fielder. Ortiz is a liability on the field, which is why he DH's. That is the real difference, fielding.

Always doing things the hard way....

Now they have to win the WC to get to the playoffs, even though they were well ahead of the Yankees in the difision for a long time.

I think the Red Sox is the most dangerous team in the American League. For that reason, the Yankees need to beat them today and hope that the Indians can do their part to keep the Soxs out of the playoffs.

Of course, considering the excitment of any series with the Yankees and Red Sox, I am kinda hoping that the Soxs get the Wild Card (that way they could play in the ALCS).

Default Sox series

I almost want to pick the White Sox, their pitching is so much better than Boston's. I look at that lineup of Schilling (he's great if he's healthy), Wakefield (he's serviceable), and Clement (scary) and don't see playoff team, but their bats are awesome. But as the saying goes, in the playoffs pitching wins. I just fnd it difficult to pick the White Sox to win a series.
