Thread: Mitt Romney vs Barack Obama

  1. Default Mitt Romney vs Barack Obama

It's the election 2012. Romney has won the nomination. Who do you vote for? Obama? Or Romney? Or a third party.

If the GOP fails to put up a respectable nominee in 2012 I will stay home.

Who would be respectable in your eyes?

I think I would vote for Romney over Obama in 2012. He seems like an excellent choice for president, but I'd like to see him out in the open exchanging with the people. I'd like to see him on the campaign trail answering tough questions, expressing his views in his own words. I'd like to see how he acts and re-acts. The one major reservation I have, and likely the same one many others have, is his religion. He doesn't appear to make a huge deal of it, but it's part of who he is. I hate the thought of voting him in and then suddenly he has a polar shift and starts making really important decisions based on views formed by his religion. I don't mean to imply that would always be a negative... it's just disconcerting.

I live near the area where Mormonism began, and have lived in Colorado, Nevada, and Utah where there is a larger Mormon population. I have known and befriended several Mormons and have to admit that I don't really have any complaint, they have all been good folks who left good impressions in my mind. I just get weary where religion is involved.

He is definitely a conservative, but not an extremist. This wiki link describes his views on many issues: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mitt_Ro...ical_positions

I didn't personally find many objections to his positions as described.

President Obama has performed as expected, which would be miserably, and I have less confidence and trust in Governor Romney. I would probably hold my nose and vote for Governor Romney but it would be nice to have one vote before I die where I got to vote for someone I actually wanted to see elected. I'm too old for that to happen, though.

The error in the title reminded me of a caller on the radio ranting about President Bush and saying, "Don't blame me. I voted for Kirby." The host of the radio program said, almost in passing, "You mean Senator Kerry."

"Don't tell me who I mean. I mean Kirby. I voted for Kirby."
