I say mandatory Texas neck-ties for rape, robbery, and murder.

If I supported the death penalty, I would agree about murder and rape, but my father was robbed and it certainly didn't destroy his psyche the way rape does. Anyway, glad to see you.

Hi, Force! In truth, I'm not really sure whether I truly support the death penalty, inasmuch as there is always the possibility of wrongful conviction (and then it might be a bit too late to bring the poor b_st_rd back from the dead), but if there were anything worthy of the death penalty (assuming that there were some way of being 100% sure of guilt), those would be the ones I'd string 'em up for.

I am against the death penalty.

I also find it disturbing for anyone else to promote the death penalty - except if they were a direct relative of someone that was murdered and they called for the death penalty of the person who had murdered their relative.

Anyone else outwith the case I have mentioned above that calls for someone else to be executed by the State is a bit of a sick b'tard in my books.

I know a little girl who was victimized when she was 5 years old. Her attacker went into her home one night and took her to an empty house to assault her. Luckily, her father happened to peek in to check on her and when he saw she was gone, he raised the neighborhood (including her grandparents). The attacker was scared off and they found her before the attacker managed to kill her. After a few surgeries, the doctor hopes she'll be able to have children someday. I think anyone who doesn't think that man deserves the death penalty is a sick b'tard.

BTW, the perp is an illegal Mexican immigrant and they don't know where he is.

Deserving is irrelevant in my opinion. I believe the justice system is meant to protect us, rehabilitate when possible. The call for vengeance is a base and foul human emotion which should not be glorified as it is part of the reason we need such a strong state (look at Israel and Palestine to see a modern example of what vengeance has done for society).
The court system should be cold and distant and simply ask before doing something "What will this accomplish?"

Well the State better find him soon so you can jump up and down shouting "kill him kill him" with all the other sick b'tard.

I hope they catch him before he does it again.

I wonder if you had been there at the time of his original crime and you had your loaded gun with you and you actually tracked him down would you have shot him yourself? And why because he is an illegal alian or a kiddy fidler?

I look at it in this way. I am a sinner. That is to state that I have yielded to temptation. Accordingly, can I state with certainty that I am a better person than that predator? No, I cannot. I can state that I have never done anything remotely approaching the evil of his deed, but I have never (thank God) wanted to do anything nearly that evil. I can't take credit for not doing what I wasn't tempted to do. Therefore, unless I had God's power and could see into the very soul of that man, I could not say what he did and didn't deserve. The point of the criminal justice system is to give society the protection it deserves. Only God can say what any given individual truly deserves. I would want to take revenge on such a person, of course, but if I did so, I would be judging myself at the same time.
